DAL Class drops

Age 67 + downturn. All of that is going to happen. It stinks but it’s the reality of the industry we work in. That being said I have analyzed NTSB travel statistics during the 2000 crash and the 2008 recession. While block hours didn’t grow it doesn’t appear they declined either. That being said the airlines lost money defending their gate positions and routes. The next five years will be hard to predict.

- Japan (domestic only)...plus a few others.
- One paragraph in a Rand study.
- A few AvNews articles referencing above mentioned Rand study.
- Pilot forums...mostly crowing about discrimination, or as a threat if the young guys don't agree with older guys....as if the pilots even have a say in such a decision lol.
Until ICAO switches, age 67 isn't even a thought in my mind. If it does change...well, stuff happens.

I don't believe it even does that. Leaving for health reasons is more logarithmic than linear as time passes. I doubt even removing the age completely would make much difference in what we currently see in terms of rates of retirements

Age 65 was more or less the same thing, a shift to the right 5 year band aid. But they still did it, and did absolutely zero in those 5 years to fix the impending retirement bubble.

Maybe if you are above 65 years old you are limited to operations between sun up till sundown. I couldn’t imagine the amount of single pilot ops that will be conducted otherwise.

Top Men refers to a particular prolific poster on our delta pilot Facebook page, who believes that he is privileged with information that no one else can get, and thinks that his a350 is a starship flying in lower earth orbit....he is, “special”

Management doesn't get paid to fix bad things as easily as they get paid to delay bad things.

It was a Fed POI for another major carrier. He stated the airlines were actively working on it however the discussion of cognitive examinations were giving the various management teams great pause. He seemed to think it would be a bandaid until single pilot aircraft are entering the scene. He also mentioned China will need 100,000 pilots in the next two decades.
