DAL Class drops
#2721
Sometimes, their lot in life forces them, if they’re driven to make something of themselves.
Those born into lower class households, or those who wouldn’t be able to afford the tuition, or wouldn’t otherwise be able to get into college academically are forced to play if they want to get a college education. And most don’t make it to the NFL.
My personal feeling, is that the big schools make TONS of money off of these kids and compensating them, at least a little, could change not only the players lives, but their family’s as well. I’m not against it, but there would have to be rules in place so the schools with the deepest pockets and biggest boosters weren’t always competing for the national championship. Alabama....Clemson....
Thank God Tennessee doesn’t have deep pockets.

But that point aside, the deep pockets will prevail, and I would wager that more college athletics will be harmed and even disappear than will benefit. I mean, who GAS about tennis, right? When you have to pay your 5* high school QB, that is money that doesn't go to help a young lady win a scholarship to the bowling team. (And Vanderbilt has an excellent women's bowling team... national championship btw) But I guess those scholarships are meaningless.

I will cheer for an 18 year old kid all day long I don't care his background. Start paying him and he deserves to be booed if he doesn't produce. I don't like that at all.

I would say your first two weeks here are just as much about survival as they are about learning the new company, in the sense that a few people have shot themselves in the foot during indoc. Just don’t be that guy/girl.

I would advise caution asking BB that question. Maybe you could ask him to go to your parents home in whatever city you want to go to, but understand that they take the PS travel privilege pretty seriously with new hires.

If you aren't committing a fireable offense during indoc, chill out and enjoy yourself. Congrats on being here. I haven't seen BB or any of indoc team in the years since my own indoc and they'll likely never again affect your life or profession.

As others have said, yes. BB will encourage it if you ask him. You’re an adult and Delta will treat you like one. I went to see my mom on my weekend off in Indoc. He’ll say the same thing he tells everyone, don’t care where u go as long as you’re in class in your seat when you’re supposed to be. A little questionable but I’ve heard people going to Europe over this time, you open yourself up to a lot of risk doing that. Give yourself plenty of time to get back to ATL before class starts after the weekend just in case.

Another perspective: don't hesitate. You presumably aren't a child, and many of us have unique reasons to be somewhere other than home or at our parents' during a weekend off from work. For all you know, your positive space ticket to random location C puts less strain on the system than if you went home.

I'm not sure where all this paranoia about Delta being out to get you comes from. It couldn't be more opposite! Welcome to Delta!

I second this. Everyone is super accommodating. Just be honest and show up ready to learn/be chill and everything will be fine. No one in my class had problems using PS to other places that weren't their home of record.

Does Endeavor have an agreement with Delta that their pilots must make up a certain percentage of each Indoc class? Do they go into a separate pool? Heard November/December DGI CJOs already have class dates assigned for March while most off the street August CJOs still await dates.
Apologies, found the answer online. Looks like they have an agreement to fill 1/3 of the Indoc slots per year (average of 15 pilots per month) with DGI.
