I'm not saying people aren't leaving the regionals for Frontier. I doubt anyone is passing up Delta to go there

I'm talking about SWA having full classes .. this delay from CJO to class date is killing us, losing a lot of good pilots.

Delta has no problem filling classes. We've just decided on having smaller classes for some reason. I think they said it's to optimize the training schedule or something.

If we only hire 400 in 2019, we're definitely going to lose a lot of good pilots to other carriers. The CJO to Indoc delay isn't casual... there are simply more good pilots looking for a job at a major than we want to bring onboard ourselves. We can't have em all!

Delta hired a ton since 2013, got caught up, and has a little breathing room at the moment (enhanced/exacerbated by company efficiency gains). The math says we need to increase the hiring rate again by 2020 and I think the CJO-Indoc delay will shorten significantly. In any case, we're not the first choice for every applicant who gets a Delta CJO. We're always going to have folks jump ship before and after indoc.

They laid out the hiring plan at the lounge briefs. They are simply following the plan. Hiring is expected to pick up rapidly in the fall.

Hopefully mgmt is screwing up like usual, and we will be short staffed soon. That means one thing. Greenslip $$$$$$$$

Wait, the management team led the airline to a $5B profit last year and they are ‘screwing up’? Maybe, just maybe - they know what they’re doing?
