You’re right, we are getting “optimized” instead. Thank the 82% for all the productivity Concessions we gave

Thank the guys flying an insane amount voluntarily. Spoke with a senior 88 FO the other day. Was crediting 160 with 5 days off, and he said that’s a normal month for him. Didn’t wanna go left seat yet because he'd have to fly 90 something hours to equal his pay and didn’t think was was senior enough to get green slips. What’s the point of all that money when you’re averaging 5-8 days off?!?!

If the M88 FO referenced above wasn't volunteering for GS flying, someone else would be voluntold by an IA. Both result in double pay, so the financial impact to the company is the same. It could actually cost less for the IA, because it goes to a junior pilot who may be at a lower pay rate.

So many opinions exist in a vacuum without considering the law of unintended consequences.

Oh I fully agree. I have no problem with the GS/WS stuff and making extra money. It was just the insanity of saying 5-8 days off every month was normal.

What about those who only want to work 5-8 days a month. We need reserves to be able to drop. #slackerlivesmatter

Big diff in saying it's normal.....and....it's normal for him. If he wants to do that voluntarily, why should I (or you) try to judge him? Maybe he's gonna employ the "Gunfighter" school of wealth management and wants to build a seed egg(seed or egg?....dunna know...kinda a mixed metaphor,no?).....

or maybe he wants to work for 15 years and call it quits because he has made as much as he would have in 30

Or maybe he has a sick child/mother/sibling

or maybe he gives it away to charity

or maybe he spends it on hookers and blow

I don't care what he does nor how he runs his life.....why do you?

As subtle as always, but I completely agree. WAY too many people worry about what other people are doing, even when it’s codified in the PWA.
