New MEC Officer Elections In November

The MEC will elect a new chairman and MEC officers at the November meeting,

Their 2 year term will begin in January 2017.

That is about 60 days from now.

Captain Dickson will have to think long and hard about his position. Absent a deal, he will face a new MEC chairman.

The new MEC chairman appoints all committee positions except the negotiating committee and merger committe which are elected by the 19 voting members of the MEC. The new reps elected this fall will begin their terms on April 1st, 2017. So the sitting MEC will elect the new MEC chairman and other officers.

There is a lot at play here.

One major point to consider is if we should table negotiations and wipe the slate clean for the next chairman.

For me as one of almost 14,000 Delta pilots, I favor this direction. The concessions are unacceptable for the most profitable pilots in the world.

The Delta pilots have made over $15 Billion in concessions to date. Far more than any other party by billions.

We have made Mr. Bastian rich beyond his wildest dreams. And, quite frankly, good for him. The disconnect is he has chosen to take the position that the Delta pilots bankruptcy concessions are a permanent reset.

That doesn't fly with me.

If Mr. Bastian has almost $4 Billion per year to return to the Delta shareholders, DELTA PILOT CONCESSIONS ARE NO LONGER NECESSARY OR ACCEPTABLE.

Gold Bond is just about a raise and give up big QOL items.
Did you vote yes to TA15? I think I know the answer.

If we had 7000 current DPA cards think of how different things would be.

Canoll would have to actually fight for us and oppose wasting $4 billion annually on stock buy backs while the Delta pilots work under a bankruptcy contract.

Signing a card is NOT A VOTE FOR DPA. It is a vote for an election.

Don't vote for DPA. But signing a card will turn this nightmare around.

$4 BILLION ANNUALLY IN STOCK BUY BACKS

WHY ARW WE MAKING CONCESSIONS??

Signing a card sure as hell isn't a vote for ALPA. If we have an election, our realistic options are DPA, ALPA, or no union. No union really isn't an option. That leaves DPA or ALPA which we already have. Why the hell would I sign a card if I'm not for DPA? Saying it's not a vote for DPA is quite a spin.

For anyone who doesn't know why we have a 12-7 divide, it is about allowing more 76 seaters to be outsourced. 12 reps want to hold line on large rj scope which can and probably will delay a contract for years while the other 7 want to give up the large rj scope to get a contract this year. I'm with the 12, but I am sure there are pilots supporting the 7. I can't blame them as our retirements increase significantly and it is real money. I also spent a little under 4 years at a regional thanks to outsourcing when I could have been at mainline.
