He doesn't have to be privy to the polling results. Some council communications (from the 12) have been put out stating "We don't believe the polling results." This is fact, backed up by BB himself stating it as well to me. So in essence, the 12 are not listening to the majority.
Questions, polls, and polling data resulted in TA15. Then when the real poll was taken it failed miserably.
I can ask you a question and steer you towards an answer.
The 12 know this and the seven didn't.

Let's stick with facts. TA15 data was 10 months old when the TA was voted on....hence, the data was outdated and the MEC was told by the masses to have more and relevant data for round 2. Also, in the latest round of polling, specifically related to a DB, the questions were formed and approved by the 12 due to them having been direct contacted, so they thought this was a big issue. When the polling results came back very, very low, they again elected to disbelieve the polling or the interpretation of the data even though the statistics and science showed otherwise. I.E., they didn't like that the direct contact was not valid.....which it isn't. Not trying to throw stones, just stating facts from direct conversations with the principles.

I think using any type of polling data is irrelevant and waste of time. Regardless how old or new the polling is, if you simply just engage with the standard line pilot you can easily find out his or her priorities for a contract. You don't need some random number from New Hampshire and get asked skewed questions to set the note on how the negotiations should go. Just talk to the pilots to get your answers. It would save a lot of time and money and actually show the pilots you give a damn about their needs vs. the companies.

When you get a good deal, take it

That's delusional. In this environment, with no possibility of support from the traveling public, Congress will snap our backs before that happens. But don't just take it from me:
When you get a good deal, take it
When you get a good deal, take it
