Upgrade requirements

I've seen quite a few questions regarding upgrade requirements here and wanted to try to get it in one easy spot.

Legal FAA requirements are 1,000 hours of 121. I believe mil flight time is allowed some conversion. This is not waivable.

Contract requirements are 2,500TT and 1,000 company. These are waivable.

After first upgrade, there is a 12 month equipment lock. This is waivable.

Flight times are waived by equipment. A 900 may not waive times for upgrade, while a 200 does. On the last vacancy, this was the case.

One needed 2,500TT/1,000 company to hold upgrade, plus seniority (roughly 2 years for JFK/LGA). If you were a R-ATP candidate at 750/1,000/1,250, this means you need to meet the 2,500.

For the 200, times went as low as projected mins (75hr/month). This means one could finish FO training and be awarded upgrade without meeting 2,500TT/1,000 company. Projection of flight time is only applicable for contract times, meaning you must meet 1,000 121 prior to the closing time of a vacancy.

Seatlocks from upgrade have been waived recently, and a memo indicated that could continue. For those of you that want 900 captain but don't meet contractual, you can upgrade 200 then possibly swap over. Clear as mud?

Well, you started off wrong. 121.436(a) requires 1000 hours of 121 SIC time, or as PIC in 135.243(a)1 or 91.1053(a)1.

This is very much a strike while the iron is hot situation. As long as new airplanes are coming on property instant FO to CA will continue, but it will abate when the airplanes stop coming.

Would like to add in also that Cape Air PIC in the 402 counts towards the 1,000 hours because of the multi-engine commuter clause in 135.243(a)(1).

I can never figure out the right combination of non airline time... 135 passenger counts, cargo does not- correct?

Funny how a 1900 with people in the back counts but boxes doesn't...

135.243(a)1 time counts. There are a couple of things covered in that, but long and short of it is, an operation requiring an ATP and having passengers.

Military can count 500 hours of .gov TPIC FW flying as part of the 1000 121 hours. Not helo TPIC.

But it has to be in equipment requiring more than one pilot.

Correct, sorry I missed that part.

So to upgrade all you need is the 1000 SIC and 2500TT that total time can be helo time as long as you have the 1000 SIC as 121 ops. Right?
