I was wondering if someone could provide an update on this question… How do the schedules tend to look these days? Are there many 1-3 day trips? I’m mostly interested in shorter trips
Also, could someone advise if it is possible to hold something that is not NY or DTW straight out of training? My family and I are planning to move to base.

The schedules here are trash. You could hold CVG (unless you get the 200) out of training and would have decent QOL if you lived there as the trips aren’t commutable. I just looked and 85% of pairings for July are 4 or 5 day.

Unless you're top 5 in base you aren't getting 3 day trips. That also depends on the base. Anything less than that usually end up in open time to pick up.

For junior folks in either seat, how practical is it to group reserve days together and commute once a month - even if it means a couple of days off at base? Any specific examples might help.
