Cool Be aware

New hires should be aware of what you are signing up for. The new rates are better but New York is expensive. You will be on Reserve for quite some time and you will be abused. I came thinking the grasss greener idea but am learning quickly that it’s not what at all what I expected or signed up for. I am hoping it changes and it may just be growing pains but apparently we are only going to get bigger. I believe we may be growing too fast. Strange to say that right.

There is still no flow and the DGI is ambiguous at best. Delta pass riding is terrible and we are still not sure about priority. Without some incentives, including life style issues, it may not be worth the time here. Envoy is now hiring DECs AND THEY HAVE A PROPER FLOW! If I was an XJT guy/gal, I would not stay here waiting, wondering and sitting on airport Reserve for no reason.

Discuss.

Sounds like you should go to envoy for less pay, forced upgrades into NYC with 4am RAPs, and a ten year flow. Like you said....grass isn't always greener. To each their own, but I've had great seniority, great pay, great schedules, never been treated badly, and the relationship with the company is solid. The opportunity for resume building is excellent as well. Reserve times are going up but that's because none are properly staffed finally
. Our biggest issue right now is not growing OCC with our pilot groups. 2 hour holds during IROPS are simply unacceptable. The reserve grid needs work, and also the lack of garunteed career progression is a concern, but we have something at least for now. We've made huge gains as a company for the positive the past few years, and I only for see it getting better. That's my two cents, but everyone has different perspectives so to each their own.

If you joined at the beginning of the hiring great, if not, it will be painful and for quite some time. Reserve right now is terrible and will possibly run people off. Again, Envoy has a REAL flow. We have nothing, yet. Let’s see. Promises promises. People that have been here for many years are skeptical. Keep in mind also, that the DAL pilot’s will have a say next contract. That’s what I think. All this growth may not actually happen.

I am also in NYC and I agree with this assessment. It seems we’re still much better than the other regionals. The positive space commuting provision is a big help and makes Endeavor a no brainer for anyone within a 1.5 hour flight away with 12+ flight options (Boston, Indy, Raleigh, Charlotte, Cleveland, etc). I’d like to see more commutable 4 and 5 day trips...

The company *has* to do something to assist with the cost / burden of transportation and housing in NYC. They say they’re working on it with a corporate Lyft account but this should have been a prerequisite for the opening of the Codomicile. Additionally, the 2:30 reserve callout window is unreasonable for NYC traffic and the parking situation at the airports (unreliable air train, shuttle, etc)...although it seems rare that they actually give less than 4 hours notice. I think management still has a bit of a Minnesota attitude towards things and does not understand the challenges of being NYC based. They’re out of touch there but the company is still a great place and growing smartly.

And yes, they need more schedulers.

What promises? I was never promised a flow.
I got hired at both Envoy and Endeavor. I chose Endeavor.
I didn’t care about an 8 year flow, and a forced CA slot that would require me to be dual qualified as a Captain and First Officer.

If you’re unhappy, go to Envoy. They are hiring.

Not arguing anything you’ve said, but in your mind, what is life like at Envoy? How long is RSV as an FO? How long is RSV if you go the DEC route? What is the RSV schedule like, and how many hours a month are RSV FOs actually flying?

Come back with some facts on these items, and let’s compare them, one by one. I know some things have gotten better at ENY since I started here at EDV, but not one day has gone by that I ever wished I had chosen them instead. I think it would be a good thing to have some comparisons to go by, to help others make an informed decision.

Appreciate your willingness to put info out there for others to view, all I suggest is we do it factually, not anecdotally, if possible. Sorry you’re not as happy here as you thought you’d be.

Different timing, but I have had exactly one 3-day trip (in NY, go figure) where I said “no more” and went home instead of picking up some extra flying afterwards, even at 200%. I know I have been very fortunate here.

I’ve avoided being NYC based my whole career here. I can understand your frustrations. But anyone coming in today should expect to spend their first 6 months to a year in NYC. ATL is staffed and it’ll take some time to make your way down there

Actually Detroit is about the same on the FO side as NYC. In fact, the mock bid has the junior line holder there being more junior than their NYC equivalent. Huge change.

Its almost like people ignored the data in the fleet planning update from last fall where it laid out plans to grow dtw by over 50%...
