Commuting from ORD
For all the Endeavor pilots commuting out of ORD, how easy or difficult is it getting to and from work? Which bases - JFK, MSP, DTW, LGA, ATL, NYC - would you recommend as an ORD commuter?
While I'm 90%+ sure I want to drive to work for an ORD-based regional, I figured Endeavor is still worth consideration.

We don’t do the MSP, ATL, or DTW legs, only the JFK legs. So you could have the jumpseat on those in your back pocket. DTW isnt bad out of ORD, tons of options on Delta (Skywest mostly) but other airlines too. MDW has the Southwest options as well as Delta out of DTW. Either way you slice it, driving to work is way better than commuting, however, a reasonable commute for better money is worth considering

I'll let others speak from experience but you'll get by far the best schedule if you are in NYC. I don't personally do the commute but with the frequency of the flights (upwards of 40 a day to LGA and I believe about 10 - 15 to JFK) and the fact that it's not really "hub to hub" with any of our bases, it should be quite easy. To make matters better JFK to ORD is flown on our metal and the overwhelming majority of the 900s on that route (all but 5 until we got the ASA planes) have 2 jumpseats (cockpit and extra fa). i can't imagine commutes to other bases being difficult but NYC should be the best schedule.

To the original poster. When one is commutung for better money they should also consider the schedule and commuter clause. We have really good schedules in NYC on the 900 due to the long legs and the fact we're well staffed. Expect 16-18 days off once you hold a line as an fo (more in off season). The new commuter provisions we have are outstanding and unmatched. Try the 7:45 am ua flight, if that doesn't work just call crew scheduling and they will positive space you on the 8:30 delta flight. They'll even pay to bump passengers if needed.

I think ATL would be the easiest commute with 4 airlines flying the route (including a few redeyss I think) but you would possibly get better schedules in NY. One airline’s hub to competitors hub is generally one of the easiest commutes.

A mainline pilot told me a few months back that JFK-ORD she usually has to stick with the jumpseat

The new commute policy on any frequently served route will make commuting to work a breeze. Commuting home on the other hand... I’m sure you could make it work most of the time. Hardest part will be UA and AA being in a different terminal that is incredibly difficult to access with current construction.

I heard the old Endeavor parking before construction started was right in front of c or d. True? If so can we get our parking back there now with the garages reopening?
