Default Stop coming here!

Today it was announced that growth plans which were originally planned for late this year, and delayed until early 2019, are now delayed until late 2019 at the earliest. This comes with no explanation from our management team or Delta.

It was also announced that current pilots are being offered time off without pay. This is the first step before furloughs.

Keep in mind we are already extremely fat on pilots. You will sit reserve for over a year (and increasing) with little to no flying. You will not consolidate your ATP if you are first time 121. You will be commuting to NYC to do nothing but sit in a crashpad.

Unless you live in NYC and don’t care about not flying, do NOT come here.

The company kool aid drinkers will be out in this thread saying how everything is fine but it’s simply not true. There are other regionals out there that will get you flying and regionals such as Skywest and Republic that are actually seeing growth unlike Endeavor.

100% agree no reason to come here now Delta has no clue on what they want to do with EDV and until they announce some plan to expand we are way over staffed you will not fly you will sit reserve in NYC and with Delta taking the A220 soon a
lot of those routes look like stuff we fly so expect less flying as well.

The reason why they haven’t announced the growth is because they don’t want another ASA situation, where there was a mass exodus of pilots from there and flights had to be delayed and cancelled. The rest of the DC portfolio had to cover those flights as well. This led to most junior FO’s and CA’s being credit pushed nearly every month until hiring finally caught up.

You wouldn’t know that because you weren’t flying the line, and haven’t been on property long enough to know.

The strategy seems to be to have the staffing ready to go, so when the growth happens, we will be properly staffed, and the product we provide won’t suffer.

The short term effect of this strategy has resulted in a temporary excess of pilots, which is exacerbated by it being the slow season of flying. The TOWOP is purely voluntary, you don’t have to take it. Flying will pick back up in the spring, the company is essentially offering Christmas and New Years off in the mean time. Personally, I’d bid reserve and probably get paid to not work those days anyway.

The sky isn’t falling, the lights are still on, and FollowCompanyRJ is complaining like it’s end of the world.

The kool aid is extra strong here.

You guys have been saying that for almost a year now. So keep crossing your fingers and toes and explaining that we are seeing growth soon as were asking pilots to take time off *in the middle of the holiday season*

More like Flavor-aid, the grape flavor is more artificial and turns my pee purple.

Also, not everybody is in the same boat as you, we have 2100 pilots on staff. At least a handful wouldn’t mind not worrying about trying to get the holidays off after years of being jacked around in the industry.

Yes, we’ve been talking about growth for a year; we’ve been told to expect a nearly 33% growth (from 30% of DC flying to 40%). If you look at other DC carriers where we can reasonably expect to see our growth come from, their contracts expire at the end of 2019. Taking on aircraft is not an easy undertaking, especially when you don’t want to kill stock prices and those other airlines ability to staff flying in the process. Stuff takes time, be patient.

There’s no way to avoid an exodus from the dying carrier. Once the jets move, it’s on. EDV had no issues staffing the jets from ASA. Biggest issue was getting them through conformity,

This is way too dramatic, shows your naïveté about the industry, and is unnecessary fear-mongering. Furloughing? Come on, man, tone it down a bit. Mainline has been offering their version of TOWOP each of the last few years. As flying schedules change because of our hyper-focused marketing folks, staffing needs change. So, TOWOP is the shock absorber so the airlines don’t do expensive furloughing. They will also allow attrition to thin your pilot list before furloughing.

Welcome to the Delta crap show. You will be replaced by SkyWest because they are cheaper. Get out now. Delta treats it's wholly owned carriers like crap. CMR and ASA were wholly owned.
