Junior bases out of training
 

Hey guys, I'd like to know what base can be expected once you're done with training.
It may sound weird but I have zero desire to live in NY, but maybe doesn't make sense if I'm actually interested in Endeavor.
Can someone avoid NY?

Well unfortunately that’s our biggest base. NY sucks, with that said junior people can hold the line the fastest. Realistically about 6 months until you could get reserve in DTW longer for ATL or MSP. A lot of us hate NY but the company keeps expanding NY flying.....

Either way you’re going to see NYC at some point here. Detroit is the next most junior base in general. Most of our pilots commute, we have fairly good commuter rules. There’s another thread on here with more details on each base’s seniority.

Whatever employer I choose, I'm not commuting since I'm single, no kids, no mortgage and my family lives in different country so I'm moving to my Future base.... That's why I ask. All the good pay wouldn't be that good if I had to move to NYC.

You’ll be in NYC to start here, guaranteed.

You'd be surprised how good it can be but you have to embrace no car (and no insurance), renting in a neighborhood that has a good rep (you have to learn tons of neighborhoods and then get on a sublet or race when i place opens to rent), and you'll pick up easier and quicker than anyone who commutes (80% of ny'ers)

The commute to NY really isnt bad if you do it. Other bases you can "just grab the 12pm flight, and people really dont give themselves two. Ny the 12 is delayed to 2 for weather and youll need to show up for the jetblue at 11am also. That 11 is delayed to 1245p

If you're single and free and don't move to NYC you'd be missing out on an amazing opportunity! This is the largest and most exciting city in the US. 8 million people can't all be wrong :)
Living in baser is the open secret of the airline industry. Yes, it costs more to live here; but you can pick up trips and make decent credit.
NY is also the junior base for about every airline in the country, so you better get used to being here. Its also some of the most exciting and challenging flying you can find...

After commuting for ....um... a long long time I can say without a doubt

DON'T DO IT IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!

You’ll get New York. No if ands or buts about it

More like the 380 million other Americans that don't live in New York aren't wrong.
