If Delta buys the CRJ550, it will be exclusively for Skywest. We make too much money here, if we get flying awarded to us, it risks Skywest unionizing now that they are the bottom of the industry. Enjoy the whipsaw.

Didn't say jump ship, was riffing off final line when poster said, "lemme prematurely congratulate Skywest", and then I pretended to give odds in a futures betting market as if I'm a betting house. Now if you took offense my joke was at company apologists, then fine take your shot, otherwise, the correct response was: "This just in, Delta said to be buying Silver airlines, going to change name and base to Comair 2 located in CVG and will be pumping up airline with 50 seat CRJ 550s." There's a ton of jokes to be made besides that.

/Joke explanation
I'm not actually a betting market rep, and I don't really lay odds in anything. Im a pilot and, therefore, bad at math. There's a lot of time off, but even with my schedule, i couldn't run a bookie shop. Also, we've had the football yanked from us by Lucy multiple times, and we're all waiting with apprehension for the next time EDV goes full Charlie Brown.
/Joke explanation END

Yeah, United's scope language is significantly different from ours. I would be very surprised if any airline besides UAL tries this CRJ550 abomination. Just because you add premium seats doesn't mask the fact it's a small(ish) regional jet. Scott Kirby, the mad scientist, thinks he's solved the revenue problem for his airline...when really, it's just perpetuating the stink from a contract carrier.

Scott Kirby has never met an RJ that he didn’t like...

Regionals have been and continue to be a profit center (while we were told the opposite), maybe not huge profits, but it seems like youd want to continue to invest. Meanwhile when the next market downturn starts we don't wanna see every wealthy/rich customer to run to netjets again. Thats all my premise.

So if you wanna hold onto those big timers yet still want to reduce capacity for coming downturn, you dont want to kick the tires on some used 200s, you want something you can present as an alternative to that top tier group even in that regional market.

You don’t want these.

More RJ’s = less mainline jobs = more time spent at a regional.
