Envoy DISPLACING pilots to NYC
#11
Given the "Pilot Shortage", I was just thinking that if Envoy is having trouble staffing and sending their new hires to E-jets, that displacing pilots to NYC will hurt moral there. Given the stagnation we've seen here, I know moral is sagging among lower reserve who are stuck in NYC with no light seen down the tunnel.
I'm wondering if we are seeing a trend toward more austere times or just a lull. One is a cry to be wary of company maneuvers to gain concessions (yet again) and the other no cause for alarm.
At least Envoy displaced pilots get TDY pay and hotels for 6 months whereas our NYC reserve do not even get commuting hotels. Not that it would matter because they are not flying much and 4 hotels a month would cover one reserve period.

Displaced Envoy pilots to NY don’t get TDY and 6 hotels a month. They will get unlimited hotels for three months and positive space travel to and from work, and no TDY pay. That is ONLY for NY pilots.
The only impact this will have on Endeavor is you may get called Envoy more frequently just as we get called Endeavor.

Wow this Post has no sense of reality. Not one bit of it has any basis of facts and so many assumptions are completely wrong. First off Envoy is not displacing pilots to NY. It’s not. There is a vacancy out for expected growth out of JFK. There is also a displacement of 56ish CRJ FOs since we are giving them to PSA. However there is also an 80+ vacancy in DFW on the 175. Where the CRJs end up is completely up to them.

In most professions you don't have people throwing their lives away just to pay to work. Back when you needed 250hrs, that's basically what was happening.

Repeat after me - there is NO pilot shortage. There is now and will always be more pilots than DESIRABLE jobs.

Because you cannot be hired with 200 hrs anymore. The 1500 hr rule created a synthetic shortage, and as Mesabah mentioned - the rates are still lower than they were.
