I second this. I’ve heard Florida to New York isn’t all too bad. Atlanta can be a hit or miss nightmare.

Thanks guys. I’m about a 20 min drive from Daytona beach airport and I know they operate multiple flights to ATL a day so that’s why I was thinking it would be the easiest. Or I’m an hour drive from MCO and plenty more options there. Realistically out of training I expect to be in New York area for some time on reserve.
Sorry OP for getting a little off topic, if any of you have more input for me please feel free to PM. Thanks!

between regional jets, who cares what you're flying? It's not like we're talking a difference between a 717 and a 777. There are many valid reasons to not come to Endeavor right now, but the 200 isn't one of them.

A lot of mainline pilots live in FL so the commute to ATL can be pretty brutal, especially trying to get home without the ability to positive space. NYC would be an easier commute but you’re going to be stuck on reserve for quite a while. We currently have the number of pilots to staff the growth coming because we barely have anyone in the training pipeline. Hiring is only at 30 a month going forward (about the same as attrition) compared to 50 a month two years ago before the growth. If you want to upgrade don’t come here, upgrade is just over 3 years currently and a lot of people are waiting their turn in line. I would go to Republic if I were you, take the quick upgrade and get out.

While that's true, the 900 has better lines, more pay, and a lighter workload.

If you will be disappointed by the 200 I would not come here. If my memory serves me, we have 36 spots open on the 200 and 24 on the 900. On the late published seniority list, both of the last two classes were assigned the 200. The schedules will be far worse than the 900, and you’ll be stuck on it for about 20-24 months.

I was under the impression they were going to be filling positions for the 900 since the new planes that are coming are 700/900. And the 200 pilots are seat locked for 2 years. A friend of mine recently hired said their whole class was pretty much assigned to the 900.

Thats not how a union shop works… maybe this flies at Skywest but here, every single 200 FO on property hired before March 2018 will be eligible to bid for the 900 spots opening as a result of this growth when the vacancy comes out in a few days or weeks. And there are dozens and dozens of them. They were under an 18 month lock from date of hire. With upgrade times going up from 18-24 months to probably holding stead over 2.5 years maybe even 3 years, many current 200 pilots are going to move to the 900. It's already happened, that's why most of the spots being offered to new hires are on the 200…. Advantage of going to the 200 to 900 as a new hire is there is constant movement above you. Being junior on the 900 senior FOs will move in from the 200 and delay your movement towards a line, weekends off, good trips, etc.

Also, a word of advice, don't get your advice from a new hire even if it's a friend. Seek out important career advice from someone more senior and not from an anonymous online message board. Does your CFI have any friends who have been at Endeavor over a year? Hell, talk to your friend's pilot mentor at Endeavor. I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to you. Don't get your information from recruiters. They are still telling new hires our upgrade time is 18 months… Bottom line: Your friend doesn't know what he doesn't know.

They're really not. Maybe a couple, and if you heard this from them first hand please correct them. Otherwise this is "heard from a friend of a friend". But I know probably a dozen recruiters who are all telling people 24 months projected (which is the what the company is projecting). Which I don't think is unrealistic once the we're back to hiring full speed. For someone hired today, I don't think 24 months is out of the question.

Like someone pointed out earlier, in the last four years upgrade times have gone from 3 years, to 1.5 years, to street captains, to 3.5 years. Things change fast at this level

10 per week is the goal= 40 per month

Reserve times WILL absolutely go down here. Last time we were hiring 40 a month reserve times were inside of 90 days in NYC. 5-6 months might be a reasonable bet on reserve here, assuming those new hires get spread out. If 30 a month go to NYC and there's 90 reserve FO's the math checks out.

And last I heard, upgrade at RAH was around the 3 years mark too. Unless that's come down recently.
