Which I don't think is unrealistic once the we're back to hiring full speed. For someone hired today, I don't think 24 months is out of the question.

Like someone pointed out earlier, in the last four years upgrade times have gone from 3 years, to 1.5 years, to street captains, to 3.5 years. Things change fast at this level

Four years ago, upgrade times were still 7+ years...

Right but in order for that to happen we have to have movement on the top. If those new hires are coming in and there aren’t any FOs being upgraded then they’re just going to fill the bottom of the void on the reserve side. It’s going to take until summer of next year to see the full effect of the growth. With two planes being added a month starting in November that’s only 4 planes per vacancy if we have it ever other month like normal. A grand total of 24 upgrades not counting attrition. As said before, a lot of 200 guys are moving over to the 900 and if you get the 900 in NYC you’re going to be stuck there for quite a while. Reserve times might drop a few months but should probably stay around a year to a year and a half.

Fair enough. 3 to 3.5 years ago they were starting to come way way down though.

Thats also because the seniority list jumped from 2008 to 2011 hires to 2015 hires in a few numbers. Not a fair comparison to today. We have hundreds and hundreds of FOs hired in 2017 who are waiting for their upgrade to start the DGI clock. I am very skeptical that the upgrade time will magically drop to anywhere close to 2 years. Vacancies for only 24 plus attrition when we are already overstaffed and they don't backfill some spots will not suck those hundreds of 2017 hires up that quick. After this batch of planes gets delivered things will stagnate again unless Delta gets serious about career progression and stops turning back over half our pilots...

FWIW, some of us aren't planning to be around by the time the DGI clock strikes midnight. That might make things a touch quicker.

We'll see if the attrition from June and July is sustained. I can only hope so!

I believe the attrition numbers are trending higher month to month. I’m hoping for over 40 for August to keep the trend going. To everyone else, please remember that there are many great airlines hiring today. There also some not-so-great-but-not-regional airlines that may be better too.

And more importantly, there are airlines that are better for some and worse for others. There is no "best" airline, only best for you. Or in some cases, not the worst for you..

The company can’t stagger seat locks. They expire when the expire.
