Propel Pilots are Better Than You

Just remember folks that Delta has made it perfectly clear. You are not good enough to bid a larger aircraft. Let’s face it, we already are delta people. Our superior performance, our excellent NPS, our SOP and indeed our badges and employee numbers reflect that. What you do during irops and how you fly the delta banner speaks volumes about how good as a group I believe you all to be. So I say “bidding larger aircraft” because is realistic terms, we are all already delta people and that is a fact.

I also want to remind you, however, that Propel Pilots are better than you in the eyes of Delta, in my opinion. So just let that sink in. They’re your superiors. They’ll get to bid the larger aircraft and sneer down upon legacy 9E for years to come. Act accordingly. They deserve it. You don’t. They’ve earned it. You didn’t.

Having seen how this group performs first-hand, I’d be a fool to not welcome you to bid larger aircraft on the next AE. But my opinion doesn’t matter. Neither does my impeccable service record, nor yours, nor anything any of you all have done. So just enjoy your new Papa Xray tail-numbered Atmos 900s, and teach your superiors how to be delta pilots. That is all.

Fellow Endeavor Pilots,

When the Delta Propel program was first announced, we made it abundantly clear to Endeavor and Delta management that such a program would be untenable without providing a guaranteed and contractual career progression pathway for you, as ALPA-represented seniority list pilots. As you've seen in the past few months, both the Endeavor MEC and the Delta MEC have passed resolutions affirming this stance and our joint opposition to the two-class system at Endeavor that Propel has created.

Unfortunately, Delta management remains unwilling to engage with us on providing the guaranteed and contractual career progression that you deserve. Your MEC met in May to develop a multi-phase strategic plan which includes our next step:

PROGRESSION FOR ALL – Hats Off, Lanyards On

What we ask of you is simple: join us in showing management at Endeavor and Delta that we are united in our goals of career advancement and fair treatment. You will be receiving a new ALPA lanyard at your address on file in the next few days. By wearing this lanyard and leaving your hat at home you send a message of solidarity that will not go unnoticed.

The lanyard is a symbol of our unity and sends a strong message to management that we do not accept being second-class citizens while college students and non-pilot Delta employees are offered preferential career advancement through Propel. Our message in this campaign, "Progression For All" makes clear that the only acceptable solution is guaranteed and contractual career progression for the ENTIRE Endeavor pilot group.

On the other hand, the hat is a symbol of the Delta brand. The company asks you to wear it voluntarily, promoting the Delta brand without being given the ability to be a part of the Delta family. Our contract specifically protects your right not to wear it. By leaving it at home you send management a message that we must truly be made a part of the family they want us to represent.

Although these may seem like small gestures, our unity truly is our strength and there is nothing airline management fears more than a unified pilot group. Management has seen it in their surveys, we have heard it in the crew room, and now we ask you to publicly show your support for guaranteed and contractual career progression. Your show of unity will help us to gain leverage and will demonstrate that this unfair treatment is unacceptable to Endeavor ALPA Pilots.

We look forward to seeing you on the line with your Hat Off, Lanyard On!

In Unity,

The Endeavor Air MEC

I like the move. It's measured and rational. Good second step. The first step was the 2 years of negotiation with Delta. Let's just keep doing our jobs as bad we can and stand behind the MEC.

I support this action. I’ve always been one to blame alpa on things. I now believe they’ve tried hard for solving this issue of inequality and frankly the impugning of this group by delta HR to no avail. Fine. It is what it is. The flood gates are open. Value carriers are hiring FOs with no PIC. I encourage all of you to keep up the good work you do, but move on to other places that are much more welcoming of the work you’ve done.

What a kick in the teeth and I’m one that usually refrains from showing my true colors here.

To me, it sounds like heading down the path of the RJDC, it reeks of desperation. I think the MEC’s time is best spent looking for career progression elsewhere.

The good news is there is going to be so much hiring coming at all the majors starting 2020 and onwards, that anyone that wants to go anywhere should be able to within +/- 2 chosen carriers. Barring a potential recession coming but the retirement numbers still speak for themselves and are staggering.

Good luck guys.

At Eagle, but if I see an EDV pilot in the van or airport wearing his/her hat, I'll be sure to ask why.

theUpsideDown 09-18-2019 07:23 PM

Edv needs the pilots, not the other way around. Personally this comes on a little too strong for me, but I know this has been building a while and as more people leave the flow mantra will get louder. It's y'alls choice, just be unified.

What gets me is the profound connotation that we are substandard set of employees as compared to Propel Pilots. Obviously I know it’s not true but the insinuation is simply something that has me riled up enough to create this thread. Delta, as great as a business that it is, should really take a step back and rethink the value of a good employee.

It is my opinion that they really just want young, good-looking, people wearing their uniform.

The Propels all have a certain look about them, the college track ones anyway. Can’t speak for the company path people as I have yet to see one.
