Default Commuting from South Florida or DFW

I知 currently trying to get a good picture on how hard a commute from the PBI FLL area would be and then DFW. I imagine NYC to start off and then possibly ATL. I do have family that lives in the City I can stay with. If I was able to hold ATL I would consider moving there. I know Living In base is a whole different job, in a good way. I appreciate any advice with regards to this.

Commuting from South Florida to ATL is very difficult. Commuting from DFW to ATL is pretty much impossible, it痴 even hard for mainline pilots since it used to be a base for them. South Florida to NYC there are tons of options on multiple airlines, even more if you count all the flights to EWR, HPN, and ISP.

I've used the positive space commute about 5 times this year from DFW. Some days, there will be 40 seats open in the morning, going to LGA. Other times, it's oversold. If there's an IROP in NYC, you're toast. Massive delays and cancels. Spirit is a good ace in the hole. I avoid AA at all costs. They oversell and payload optimize too much.

If I were to move to Atlanta how long would it take to hold that. Over a year? And 1.5 for a line. I知 honestly unfamiliar with how long reserve is. I heard anywhere between 6-12 months.

It's really hard to tell right now because of the base changes and growth coming up. But "currently" there are FO's getting ATL in a few months. And then a line is tight at 12-14 months. But that could go up if the growth all happens at other bases. And there are a LOT of people hired here because of ATL that are waiting for it. So that could go up dramatically if attrition doesn't speed up.

Where are you coming from? I wouldn't move to a base for a regional that you may only be at for a few years unless you have family there or have no strong attachments to where you live now.

Commuting isn't terrible for us once you get off reserve. Commuting to reserve sucks, but you can do anything for a year.

Default Commuting from South Florida or DFW

I知 living in south Florida right now the plan was to move to Texas eventually. I have family in NYC so I have a place to stay. I really like what EDV has to offer. Also they have me in a class date soon while skywest is out in April with the possibility of it moving sooner. I知 trying to weigh my options. I really liked what EDV has to offer.

Definitely more options with Sky. More bases more movement. I致e heard the FL -ATL commute is terrible. NY obviously more options
