For the newer folks to the biz, if your union told you to leave the hat at home as a sign of solidarity, then by gawd do it! Some people think leverage is only a concept in engineering.

With that being said. Do I agree with "Propel"? Absolutely NOT. I think everyone with half a brain can understand how and why "Propel" is bad for us, maybe even the Propel people. That's why they're trying to lay as low as possible..
So you're saying you'll only stand with the rest of your pilot group who are trying to secure improvements if it's something that you want and would directly benefit you and your career plan? So if Delta comes tomorrow and gives us a flow I expect you to politely decline....

Just to be clear...we're bunching our boxers over a program that is essentially a five year interview versus our guaranteed two day DGI? Have any of you seen the washout rate for Propel to date? It's something like 90%...
DL is going to need to reevaluate their program and get it right. United's new program has a lot of folks in Atlanta nervous.

For now, I will wear my hat because my wife thinks it's sexy. I'll refrain from sharing the details of what happens when I get home after a four day. Speaking of which...time to commute home. Giddyup!

Leave it in the car, your wife won’t know and it you won’t undermine your fellow union pilots. Just a suggestion.

You know that 5 years includes the time they're instructing at the partner school. So it's more like 3 years here. Which for a lot of our FO's is shorter than the dgi will be. There are propel people here who WILL move on to Delta before a DGI pilot hired before them. That is a mathematical fact.

If the union asked you to keep the hat at home because we were fighting for higher wages, or better work rules would you still wear it? Is your commitment to your union and the rest of the pilot group dependant on how important you consider the objective? Your loyalty is for sale?

I didn't need to hear anything else after "your MEC asks you". If you disagree with the entire campaign and are actively talking to your reps about it that's one thing. But the people who just can't be bothered are what make me mad.

I was with you until your 90% washout claim. The only way that holds water is if you’re stating the acceptance rate versus the number of applicants. 90% do not get into the program and then washout. Washing out is when you’re in a program and then withdraw or asked to leave.

Thousands apply but a very small number make it in. That’s by design to show how selective the program is. In a certain way, you want small numbers. I would be worried if they accepted the vast majority of applicants.

Also, ATL is not concerned, at least those running Propel. Aviate requires 2000 hours at a United regional. Propel is only 1000.

Lastly, this PFA campaign was largely created because your MEC was not well informed about the program. There were certain members who believed that simply enrolling in a partner university gained a student acceptance into Propel; no application, no testing, no interview, etc. The ignorance about the program was astounding.

Exactly.

I'm not the campaign's biggest fan. My MEC is still asking for action to support something that a large chunk of our pilots have asked for, though. Of course, I'm gonna take action.

I take up my disagreement with the MEC in private, not in public. No hat and orange lanyard is the way to go.

I'll take, "doesn't know what he's talking about" for $100 Alex. Atlanta isn't nervous about propel and anyone who knows anyone or anything about Delta operations doesn't call it "Atlanta."

There's another perspective these guys aren't getting.

Do you think the DGI is a good program that will benefit the majority of endeavor pilots?

No?

The union is trying to get that point across and hopefully secure improvements.

That equals more movement, more upgrades, shorter reserve... All of the the things EVERYONE wants.

Even if the end result of this was maybe the DGI in contract form with 12 months as captain OR 39 months with the company whichever occurs first. An extra 1-2 points during the HR interview portion.

That would be huge.
