As a pilot who's job depends on staffing, I'm not for changing the status quo because "we don't want to cling to old ways."

Our contract says line pilots can only be typed on one, if they want to renegotiate, cool. I think they've tried in the past and the union "wants too much" for the efficency that would grant the company.

It's not about clinging to the old ways, it's about not giving up stuff just to give it up.
While there is some validity to the association not wanting to give the company that efficiency without a hearty price. “No, we have always done it this way” is still a big part of it.

Yep. And if the company wanted one fleet, I can think of a few things that I would accept to get it. A few very very big things

That better not be you pretend quoting the union. We were ready to sell the crap out of that thing for higher wages, the company kept being told the 200s would all go away because they got these hot compass 175s, scratch that Republic, OK still Republic but later, OK, fine that'll never happen, Compass! We have no idea when and how they'll get to you.

If edv did anything to optimize staffing now it would lose 80 pilots a month.

Delta never came through on the big promises so it always made up for it with higher pay. Maybe Delta will finally sweeten that career pot for ya all *rubs hands together *.

I do not represent the association in any way or speak for them, it’s the general attitude of the company and/or the pilot group take your pick. Just my opinion.

I thought you were a DL guy? It’s rampant there also. When was the last time you guys changed your uniform? Why is it still called a “green slip”?

Obviously things do change when necessary, but there is pushback to make those changes. “We’ve always done it this way.”

That was the weirdest "your right" from you yet. I am a delta guy but I don't wanna be that guy trying to get everyone to stop and explain it to them.

Also, related topic, if my little circle of edv friends is any indication I won't be here much longer because more than half are GONE in next three months. Company might come a begging for that dual qual finally.

And trust me, even when I was there I was never thinking "omg this guy must be union because he's got so much knowledge!"

Yeah, pretty much every one of the FO's I've flown with in that last three months, is NOT waiting around for the DGI. They have interviews lined up everywhere too, and Frontier is interviewing our pilots with only a year on the job here. Things are about to get interesting again.

Several of the LCC's have approached us about a flow as well. Plus, it's only a matter of time till the other majors start poaching the Propellers too.

DGI is all smoke and mirrors, and is all a ploy to sell something that doesn't exist.

I don’t think I said “your right”, but okay. I’m not sure what you are talking about with the second paragraph, and you completely lost me on the third one.

Call me a transplanted Homer but I'd still like to see DL commit to the edv guys. But ultimately whatever is best for the pilot I'm rooting for.

I'm no defender of the DGI, but I wouldn't say smoke and mirrors. It obviously worked for the ~50% of the guys that were successful. I honestly think our career progression gains (if we make any) are going to be in the form of improving the DGI. We can give Delta a face saving, "we'll never give a flow" by slowly building the dgi into what basically amounts to a flow. They could be slow gains and changes, incremental improvements.

But I do agree that in it's current form, in the current hiring climate, it's more of a recruiting tool.
