So in a way, that's exactly what they are doing. They are getting tax payer money to distribute to their employees that they won't have to pay back, as long as they don't furlough or reduce pay rates until October 1.

On top of that, they are also asking people to self furlough for those that can.

Call it what you want, but that's having your cake and eating it, too.

I'm not saying I blame them. I have no idea how bad the books look. But let's call a spade a spade.

Yes, I think we’re on the same page here. My point was merely that if you’re expecting to still receive a paycheck as a result of this grant after taking VLOA/TOWOP then you’re probably going to be waiting for something that isn’t coming. I agree that the company is pushing LOA programs in order to pocket a greater sum of the money and in a perfect world maybe it allows them to stretch it a bit further. That said, anyone who thinks mass numbers of people taking a VLOA will have any effect on whether or not there are furloughs in the Fall is misguided. It’s pretty simple, if demand looks like it will be rebounding, we all stay. If it’s still a dumpster fire, some or all of us will be furloughed. It doesn’t matter if 1 or 1000 offer to take a VLOA over the summer.

Agreed. Let's hope people lock down and stop the spread, so we can all swallow this awful tasting medicine and get back to normalcy relatively soon.

The sooner *everyone* takes this seriously, the sooner it will be over.

On this we are in agreement as well. The next few weeks will most likely be pretty awful, but we should begin to see some easing off on the number of new infections and deaths in the weeks after. That won’t cause an immediate rush back to the skies but at the very least it should start being reflected in bookings for Q3/Q4. And positive trends there would be a significant positive for DL and by extension 9E.

That would be nice but Fauci is warning us all to get ready for the second wave in the Fall. Public will not be trying to buy airline tickets with that kind of media.

I'm pretty sure I'd rather get advice from an actual scientist than a very stable genius that stares at a solar eclipse, and said this might miraculously go away in April.

He said the second wave will be much less severe, and easier to control.

Default Reduced list of cities served?

After reading this article, I expect Endeavor will cease service to some destinations.

Airlines Given Tentative OK to Halt Service at Dozens of U.S. Cities

I can't find a hard list, but Delta allegedly has permission to cut service to 11 airports. Seven examples cited across two different articles are ASE, BGR, ERI, FNT, ISN, LNK, and SBA.
