Default Will We Furlough?

Am I the only one that thinks that we are still potentially on the chopping block for furloughs? The numbers just don't add up for me. We still have 25% of our fleet parked and August departures are 600 instead of the initially planned 900. If you're a line holder, you probably have AVL on your schedule cause Delta has cut the added number of flights for August due to low demand.

It depends on what next summer looks like. At this point, it wouldn't make sense to furlough if we're close to normal capacity for next summer. If next summer looks like this summer, even at 600-700 flights per day, then some furloughs are likely in the cards.

The company did say that they'd run early-outs before furloughs, so that will probably be the first sign that we're in trouble.

We lucked out that Compass () and GoJet were already on their ways out with Delta, so Delta was able to cut some DCI capacity by dropping those two airlines first.

If you are looking for a stable industry you are in the wrong business. What is your goal with putting up a poll? Drive hysteria off of random people's responses who have no more information than any other company pilot?

The FA’s on voluntary furlough would not return to work in August. Endeavor had to tell DL that we couldn’t do more flying. Any potential flying maybe went to Skywest or Repulic. Now with soft numbers DL has cut our flying more. Interesting if Skywest flying will surpass ours.

Why we allowed VLOAs without an enforceable recall option makes no sense to my pilot brain.

another thing. Unemployment insurance isn’t supposed to pay if you refuse work.

Somebody was worried about cutting costs, not running an airline if demand came back.

Looks like TVLOAs are open again for pilots and FAs...can’t be a good sign.

That’s why they will be month to month going forward.

For a while in June I was getting 40+ loads on the 900. This month I haven’t had a load over 40, and as many in the teens as in the 30s. I am still optimistic about summer 2021, but at this point I don’t see any way around this being a worryingly lean fall/winter.
