I’ve got a class date in June and live in Atlanta. When I was up up there for the interview I heard that the quickest way to get based in Atlanta was to try and fly the CRJ200. Just thought I’d check on here to confirm that?

That’s probably a true statement but not by much. You can pretty much hold reserve on any equipment in whatever base you want shortly after training. My recommendation, avoid the 200 at all cost if you can. Reserve times are 7-10 months right now where you can hold a line a few weeks after training on the 9. Not sure if it’s ticked up a bit but they are training 900 pilots at what seems like 50-1 rate right now which means you will sit at the bottom of the reserve grid and on airport ready for the foreseeable future. Then when you do get a line you can expect 45-55 hours of block per month vs 75 or higher on the 9. The goal for most is 1000 hours 121/turbine and then upgrade or move on. If that’s you then fight for the 9! |
Question - if I am on reserve and if I pick up some flying on my off days on top of my regularly scheduled reserve, do I get paid for those picked up flying? Or do I only get paid for min 75 hrs?

Do we get placed into CASS and get jumpseat privileges as soon as we start ground training? Or do we have to wait until we’ve completed IOE before we’re eligible to jumpseat on other carriers?
Also, does Known Crewmember access start right away? |

I saw the company announce the $40,000 new hire bonus for DEC, is the normal FO new hire bonus still $10,000?

Yup. The additional $30k is a sliding scale based on your previous 121 hours, not necessarily DEC. See: https://edvpilotpay.com Take their flow time with a grain of salt - somebody who has been with the company 4 years has a projected flow of 24-27 months, new hire 28 months? Not sure how that math works! |
