Not sure about that anymore. A lot of people in my class at YX were from Mesa and Gojet had left there due to training delay mid training. Two of those people are heading to JB and Spirit. They just had to explain why they left during the interview.

If this was 7 years ago I would probably agree with you. But, in this hiring environment taking the penalty of hours per month that the 200 gives you would be detrimental. It would be more detrimental than explaining why you left in training. That amount of time per month flying is one of the lowest in the industry right now. I'd take my chances explaining why I left as opposed to taking 3 years to meet the minimums to go elsewhere...meanwhile everybody else would already be leaving because they had the time before you. The 200 out of the gate is a great way to stay junior for a decent time in your career wherever you end up because others have gotten there before you while you barely flew 30 hours per month

Several years ago I would agree with you. But it would be more detrimental to stay on the 200 than to explain why you left during training. The amount of time the 200 can supply right now is low which will keep you junior for a while when you get to where you're going because others got there 1-2 years before you while it took you longer to meet the minimums. Getting the 200 has long term impacts that aren't worth it...

Why does the company even need to assign a whole class of new hires 200 if the flying is so limited…hard to get people enough hours for the upgrade if captains are all the company aims for as an end goal

Do you know how long it takes to get off reserve on the -200 in the most junior base? And are line holders on the 200 seeing more competitive block/month?

The company has 200s. If current FOs move on from the 200, then the company needs new hires to fill those holes. That's just how it works.

For those of you scared of getting assigned the 200, note that seat locks for the vast majority of junior 200 FOs expire in the second half of 2022. If you aren't on property yet and get the 200 during new hire training, then there's a chance you'll see way better movement then the last big round of 200 FO new hires.

That's assuming the 200 fleet doesn't shrink too much more. YMMV.

June 2021 Hire on the 200. I have been in DTW since then. I am still on reserve and have a total of 150 hours. The fastest Ive seen have been classmates in ATL that have gotten lines 6-7 months after hire. The 200 is TRASH.

If the grass is so much greener somewhere else, leave. Go work at another regional and then come back and tell us how bad it is at 9E

For a First Officer CJO from Endeavor, is there a timeframe that it's good for? For other regional airlines I've heard you can attend class up to 6 months after the CJO offer is received.
