Pilots getting to be too expensive hmmmm I feel like I've heard of a wholly owned having that issue. I wish I could remember what regional. I guess I'll go have some nasty chili on spaghetti to remind me
Not an rj lifer. Leaving my regional next month. Try again.

Only because of flow I'm assuming. So you just have the lifer mentality?

If delta wants to one up AA then the only logical thing is to staple or give all CA Delta senority numbers.
DL seniority ain’t gonna cut it no more.

This isn't post 9/11, this isn't Comair. It's not an equivalency.

Wow can you not color in the lines.

Comair was expensive, that is correct, but thats only because of the longevity, not their contract. 1.5 years before delta shut them down, if theyd hired a similar number of pilots as every other company had hired, they'd have had the lowest operating cost thanks to new longevity. The pilots who stuck around comair thought they saw an opportunity for delta to shuffle planes back to them, since their rates were already below industry average and without the #of days off the rest of us were getting. More productivity and less money, but comair management was terrible and spent their days trying to hold delta to their word (which every delta employee knows is a mistake). I would even say they purposefully failed in the nyc flying, hoping delta would just send them back to cvg. The list goes on

so whats going on thats different at edv? the pilots on the bottom, middle, and incoming new hires will vaporize. The 900s are still tied to the pilots as far as i know so you cant shuffle the 900s at all. This isnt a case of pilot wanting to be more expensive, that isnt how contracts work. Im surprised you dont know that. This is a pilot group thats just going to leave. On top of that, the pay is lower than average and the career progress is irrelevant if you arent flowing in a year. Senior guys might stick around, but they cant fly the planes on their own. Half would have to be FOs and spirit will hire them tomorrow.

Its over, its not edv pilots fault. Delta traditionally sits on this to see what the numbers look like. Then they slowly negotiate. Im not convinced they can. The pilots arent dual qualed so when edv parks the 200s in (lets say it lasts to august1) those pilots are training churn, they cant fill in for the 900 pilots who vaporized. We are going to be in the middle of the summer and edv isnt going to be able to fly (probably) 20%+ of their commitment and mainline cant fix it. This is bad, and it aint edvs fault.

Nailed it right on. 100%. Unless something happens very quickly, which we both know it won't, edv is in major trouble.

If edv is in trouble that means delta is going to be hurting too.

Well, we arent going to collapse, but we WILL miss those profit projections some and we're going to look like incompetent boobs to our premium pax. This could set us back years.

So with the AA WO news our new hire pool is about to evaporate into thin air. We can barely staff attrition as of yesterday. Some will certainly still trickle in but it's effectively game over at 9E. Say good bye to poolies, a good number of existing FO's and maybe some Captains.

This can be fixed, but it's going to be expensive.
