Everything helps. But also, get them now so you know who will do them for you. So next time you need them you know who to call.

Really? Seems like a lot of the pilot group likes reserve if you look at the awards recently. Schedules aren't great for anyone right now, but in the base I looked at over half the people on reserve in December could have held a line and bid for reserve instead

That's because the schedules are so bad, they couldn't hold Christmas off without bidding reserve. They chose the lesser of two evils.

I just looked and October and November were the same. Reserve is not my preference, but a lot of pilots seem to like it

If you can’t get what you want with a line, reserve is your best option. With a line I have zero weekends off, zero holiday days off. With reserve I have every weekend off and Christmas off. I don’t like reserve but it’s what works with the home life.

Yup. And if the company did a better job constructing more efficient pairings, we'd all have better schedules and more days off. Sadly, there seems to be little want to do that.

Is this a pandemic thing or was it as bad before as well?

Trips have been going downhill since CDOs went away. Schedules were also way better before the NYC codomicile. 17-18 days off was the norm for LGA and JFK line holders

No, not as bad. They’re shifting the flying around quite a bit. Hopefully, the schedules get better once New York gets built up again and things stabilize some what.

Default Crashpads JFK LGA EWR

I’m looking for a crash pad for sometime in January. Currently in training, pm if you have recommendations or contacts.
