Choice of base
Hey guys:
Just looking for some inside information. I read on the website that LGA & JFK are the bases where newly hired FO's are based. Also, read that ssn determines seniority. My question is that if I'm most senior in my class, do I get to pick my base or is it determined by ssn? Thanks in advance. atp |
You will only get assigned where vacancies exist at the moment they assign bases. So if there were 3 spots in say CVG and 15 spots in NYC, and you were the top bidding in your class you would have first shot at CVG over the rest of your class.
You won’t “pick” your base as much as rank them and then you get given whatever is is available. It will 99% be NYC or CVG out of training. If you’re lucky you may be able to get DTW out of training or soon after. MSP and ATL are going to be a while. |

The good ole days of great bases and great flying at Endeavor are long gone . It was much better when it was Mesaba and Express one . Skywest and Envoy have the best bases.
I think Express I pilots would disagree with your assessment calling their outstation bases great considering they displaced everyone out of MEM and MSP to open them and furloughed a lot of pilots at the same time |

What great bases did Mesaba have that Endeavor doesn’t? CWA?

Yeah, Edv would be set if they opened a Rhinelander crew base again, that’s the fix.

Bases
What are latest classes getting for bases and what percentage are NYC or CVG. Also, what’s the average time it’d take to get to Atlanta? And, when do you get the base decisions? TIA

From the newest realignment- 90% NYC, maybe 7% CVG, 3% DTW. Any new hire should come expecting NYC for a while and then have a crack at CVG or DTW before too long. Before this newest realignment it was taking a year and a half to hold Atlanta. It is by far the most desired base in the system, and I wouldn’t expect to hold it if you came in the door right now for minimum a year maybe more. |

Already mentioned some of this this above. You’ll get your initial class within a few weeks of start date. Typically when you’re at in person training.
