Hey guys - I hope you are all well. I always have a very soft spot for my fellow pilots at EDV - so I thought I'd quickly share my experience.

I joined Endeavor in early 2022 and I left mid 2022 to fly cargo. I was with EDV for about 6 months. This was an extremely difficult decision for me at the time. Back then my goal was Delta and I thought I had to stay at EDV.
My mentors (whom I all deeply respect and only told me what they thought it was best for me at the time) told me such contrasting opinions, it only furthered my confusion.

Some were convinced that I should not leave the 'Delta brand' before giving anything less than a year to the company. 'Leaving EDV would be seen as a red flag'
Others thought I should aim to escape the regional as soon as possible and never pass up an opportunity for an upward movement. 'flow is not your friend'
Anyways, I left EDV with a faint lingering question mark over my head but decided to focus on what was now in front of me.

Less than a year later later, I have an offer from Delta.

Guys - I don't share this in attempt to incite anything or to gloat - because this 100% isn't a reflection of my qualification as a pilot (because I really am just a mediocre guy), but the status of the industry and the timing of it.
Looking in hindsight, I understand that I may have taken a 'shortcut,' and the window of opportunity still exists in my opinion.

With that said, during the last year my goals and values have changed somewhat and Delta is no longer my #1 choice. So in the end it didn't really matter.
But perhaps some of you who are in a similar predicament that I was in might find this story helpful.

Cheers!

Go for it. The only people who have an issue with “shortcuts” are those who waited years for the flow and think others should. You worked, got hired somewhere, and did it again. That’s how effort gets rewarded. Peace out and good luck!

You still wear a mask when you are outside, don't you?

Congrats to you . You did the right thing if you want to get on at Delta sooner rather than losing thousands in seniority waiting for flow and also watching propels go in front of you. Delta is not hiring Endeavor pilots OTS from Endeavor . You must go to another bigger airline first and then apply at Delta. You will save yourself thousands in seniority.

Yes, they absolutely are hiring OTS.

they may be doing so now, but for 12-18 months of the steepest hiring wave ever seen, DL was not hiring 9E OTS. The few OTS CJOs from before that change was made also were not offered class dates and were “held back” at 9E, when all other CJO holders received class dates with minimal wait. Several months ago a DL recruiter told a highly qualified friend of mine at a job fair, after my friend had bought a suit and prepped for the fair, that DL would not be looking seriously at them presently because they worked at 9E and were expected to wait for the flow. It’s not new, AA’s been playing this game for a while.

I have heard the approach has changed recently, with some OTS hiring resuming, which is good to hear.

They are hiring edv at extreme discretion. Like under 5 every few months. 9E guys wanting DL need to leave unless flow is within reach.
