Default Endeavor Vs Netjets

I have a class date coming up with endeavor soon and I also have a job offer from netjets. I’ve been looking forward to endeavor for over half a year but the novelty is dying down because of how long I’ve been waiting

I have a few colleagues who went to endeavor and have barely flown and are on reserve in NYC being miserable.

I’d like really appreciate an honest take from within the company. What would you guys do if you were in my position? Would you take the netjets job over endeavor knowing what it’s like from within?
Also, Delta is the end goal.

I haven't worked for either but just some general advice I can think of off the top of my head:

NJ:
- doing a lot more than just flying the plane (luggage, catering, planning, greeting pax, etc)
- you get to keep your hotel points
- you will fly to places the airlines dont
- higher end clientele
- destinations are unpredictable
- longer rotations than EDV generally
- per diem is likely better

EDV:
- predictable schedule once off reserve
- you dont get to keep hotel points
- you don't have to deal with luggage, planning, catering, pax, etc
- shorter rotations generally than EDV
- per diem is likely worse

I’m currently at NetJets, and am Not Likely to Recommend.

It’s been years since I was at Endeavor, but it was a ****hole back then. Expect to be treated like a child and there were a fair number of lifers that I had the pleasure of flying with. The pay was garbage, but I think it’s a lot better now. My friends at Netjets speak highly of the experience, and you really don’t need to be prior 121 to get to a legacy now. Delta is hiring people with less than 1000 turbine these days. You don’t have to clean the plane if you don’t want, but everybody does because they pay you like $60 and well….we are pilots lol. You’ll have a million sky miles and be based pretty much wherever you want.

In my opinion, NetJets is a better place to be in the event the music stops and the hiring frenzy ends. Delta will have no problem hiring you from NetJets if that’s your desired destination.

I flew for USAirways 1989-2003, furlough, flow down to Mesa 2003-2005, then NetJets 2005 until 2017 when I lost my medical.

I liked Netjets enough that I declined recall to USAirways in 2007. I commuted from CLT for 13 of my 15 years of airline flying. I hated commuting. The 2 or so years I was CLT based living 20 minutes from the airport was very nice though.

If you going to live in a Endeavor base it might not be a bad deal. A neighbor of mine was PSA and got hired at Delta when he was approaching 1000 hours of SIC time. He was a CFI prior to getting 1500 hours and going to PSA.

NetJets: No commuting, and to me that was huge. Living in CLT I made Gold status on USAirways/American fairly quickly. The wife and I did a Hawaii vacation using nothing but airline miles and hotel points. I just made Hilton Lifetime Diamond Status before losing my medical.

-You will work harder at NetJets. Longer days on average, shorter overnights. Rarely more than 12 hours off, if you do get that you'll be on hotel standby on a 30 minute leash. Fly for NetJets, see the world thru your hotel room window.

-Excellent medical insurance, family coverage at no cost to you. Flat rate copay's ranging from $20 to $150.

-wide variety of flying, you'll see some very challenging airports. Schedule usually is in a constant state of flux. I never checked a bag on an airline if I had to connect somewhere because there was a significant chance my schedule would change enroute to the connecting airport.

-Seniority isn't as important at NetJets as with an airline. You bid schedule start days on the 7&7. Mid-week is senior, Sat-Sun starts are junior. Aircraft bids and vacation bids are by seniority. Most schedules are available to new hires, except for the CC52 which goes senior on most jets because it's the schedule that works the least number of days. The 7&7 is the default, everyone can get it.

-Pay. That's a problem right now with the Regional pay having gone up so much. Still, 1st year with the "soft" money you'll easily break $100K, some have hustled and made $150K. And don't forget the free medical insurance. I think NJA will have to bump up the pay, they are losing 15yr pilots to the airlines. Part of that is how hard they're working.

-Flight time. There is no reserve at NJA so you'll fly. Fleet type will determine how much. The older Excels break a lot. I suspect you'll fly a lot more hours than at Endeavor unless you can quickly get off reserve.

-Airlines. The airlines know about NJA pilots, they know we get excellent training and more challenging flying. Some of our senior pilots have bailed to SWA and will be career F/O's but they're OK with that.

-Upgrades. I've read they're getting down to less than 2 years so you could get some PIC turbine time before leaving for an airline.

Basically the big difference is seniority. When you're senior at an airline your lifestyle will be much better than NetJets. But when you're junior, and especially if you commute, not so much.

Specific companies aside, in general I am also leaning heavily toward the fractionals over the regionals, given the state of the Regionals right now. If you do make that decision, you should then ask "which fractional?" Flexjets vs. Netjets is a fair question, even though the Netjets feedback you read these days is noticeably skewed in the negative direction due to their contract negotiations.

can’t comment on NetJets but I was at Endeavor 5 years, recently. Had a good time. It’s a different company than it was “back then.” It’s still a regional, but the flight ops management is good overall. NYC can get messy and so expect some schedule volatility. There’s an out of balance situation right now at most regionals (more FOs than CAs) and it’s tough to predict how long that will last, which is probably why there’s so much sitting around on reserve in NYC. If you do choose to go the 9E route, shopping around for a good crashpad makes all the difference if you choose to commute to nyc.

if your end goal is Delta, unless you want the security of flow, in the current hiring environment you’ll get to delta faster by going to a different operator and getting hired off the street. Unsure how long the current hiring environment will last however.

To add to this:

At NetJets

Upgrades might be “under 2 years” but that has nothing to do with anyone hired today. It’s mostly associated with the very limited hiring from 2019-2021. Soon, once the calendar approaches the months where they hired 50+ people, upgrade time will start to climb again.

Delta is the end goal.

You'll fly, almost immediately if you go to Netjets/Flexjet. I got like 270 hours from October to February before I bailed to be a PIC flying the same aircraft I was at Netjets. Now I have a interview with the company you want to end with.

Just know this if you choose to work at a Delta Connection Carrier, your time to reach your end goal airline will be longer than if you went another route. .02
