Default Endeavor Pilots - Focus on SAFETY!

Despite the bad news and blows that keep on coming from management, safety should be your number one priority. Don't forget the little things that can be overlooked during times like now where there are lots of distractions.

I would HATE to see somebody get ramped checked by the FAA and for them to find some miniscule item that ruins your career.

Just some food for thought, common stuff I see that gets overlooked ALL the time are:

1. The stick column having a slight wiggle in it, you can hear a clicking noise. Yes, it's an all day repair, but sooo many of them have this issue. Don't overlook it.

2. Paint chips on rivots that need to be inspected for a "smoked rivot" condition.

3. Small bubbles around the far edges of the windshield.

4. Each light in the cockpit has 2-4 bulbs. EVERY single one of the tiny bulbs needs to work. What if 1 goes out and that's your only working bulb.

5. The black gripped surface on the overwing for the emergency exit path can become faded and not intact.

6. Irregular wear on the tires.

7. Excessive vibration from nose wheel after liftoff...yep we've all seen this before.

8. In the aft equipment bay, oil dripping from the packs, or any oil anywhere found should be reported immediately to find the leak. Even one drop of oil could lead to an inflight fire. Very dangerous.

9. Excessive bugs on leading edges of wings. The maintenance manual says there is a bug limit, get it inspected.

10. Shocks less than limits.

What else is there to help focus on safety? What are somethings that you see on a regular basis that may be overlooked during a time of distraction?

Interesting (really). What is the limit?

Sorry for the drift, just curious.

This is NOT drifting away from the main topic!!

We are on this website to collectively discuss ways to.....be safer!

I'm not sure what the limit is, but surely some of our other pilots can chime in.

Everyone!!! ---- Please, chime in.

What other things can be slightly missed that need to be addressed when out on the line?

The screws in the nav light covers can cause cracks as they are screwed in. Some cracks can be as long as 1.5 inches. Look right where the screws enter the nav cover and you will see the cracks from under the screw out towards the nav lights as if someone screwed the nut too hard. MX may throw some speed tape on it, but you need to get those checked BEFORE loading up passengers as it may cause a delay or even ground the aircraft. Be SAFE fellow pilots.

WOW! I had no idea that could actually ground the aircraft! OK, good thing to check!

I don't even know the proper name for it. But I often see on the outer portion of the aileron (the trim for lack of better word) begins to desperate just a little.

Yes. Just make sure you follow your FOM procedures when you call MX. Every MX call has to be written up followed by a corrective action. So, just follow the rules and let MX take care of it. Be SAFE.

Funny how that compass correction card can be hard to read or go missing.
Placards missing or not easily legible.
Frayed seatbelts.
Seat backs that won't stay up.
Pilot seats difficult to adjust.
Pilot armrest stuck cuz the last ding dong spun that little wheel to the stop and then sum.

Better hope management doesn't get ****ed and see this. Could think its a work action. Safety is the most important thing but don't start a thread about it.
