Here's a question for those who have been in 121 ops for a while:
Since the FAA took the word "flight" out of the regs a while back, and it now just reads "hours", and since flying the sim can be considered part of 121 "operations", can one count sim time towards the 1000 needed to upgrade?
Only asking in reference to 121 hours, not the 135/91.mil parts.

§ 121.436 Pilot Qualification: Certificates and experience requirements.
(a) No certificate holder may use nor may any pilot act as pilot in command of an aircraft (or as second in command of an aircraft in a flag or supplemental operation that requires three or more pilots) unless the pilot:
(1) Holds an airline transport pilot certificate not subject to the limitations in § 61.167 of this chapter;
(2) Holds an appropriate aircraft type rating for the aircraft being flown; and
(3) If serving as pilot in command in part 121 operations, has 1,000 hours as second in command in operations under this part , pilot in command in operations under § 91.1053(a)(2)(i) of this chapter, pilot in command in operations under § 135.243(a)(1) of this chapter, or any combination thereof. For those pilots who are employed as pilot in command in part 121 operations on July 31, 2013, compliance with the requirements of this paragraph (a)(3) is not required.

The answer is no, sim time does not count towards 121 time, only total time. It can be used towards your 2500 of company time but not towards 121 time at all. You're not dispatching the sim for 121 pax ops.

That's what I thought, but since the changing of the verbiage, I can see where it can be interpreted now that sim time could count. Am asking for a friend who is close, but would have the time if he could count the sim time.
Also, the CFR doesn't say passenger operations, it just says operation.

If you were being serious then yeah i've woken up on right side of bed. But xjt is a good bunch of pilots, even if a loud internet few cheered pinnacle/edv collapse during the bk. It sucks they're gonna get the hammer for being too [insert excuse here because it used to be you're too expensive]. I've been in this industry for a while, and nothing makes it worse than having management set you up for failure.

Their own mgt (holding company) screwed them not anybody else.
For someone who had a guaranteed interview and got hired"I assume".
you sure are negative. This isn't Pinnacle anymore so you can lighten up.
