They didn't have 1000 upon closing of the vacancy, but did have it by the time they went to class.

Folks, just want to encourage anybody with a few seconds to participate in the ALPA campaign to keep the ATP requirement for FOs. It's hugely important to maintain the standard, and not allow the market to get flooded with underqualifed candidates. It's due to pressure for pilots we've seen the increases in pay and removing the ruling would be a big setback.

Go to ALPA.org
Login, and select 'Member' at the top. Look for the "Calls to Action" section and it's under there. Already has your congresspeople selected, and a standard form letter. Add your own comments or send as it. Takes a minute all in all.
Thanks for your interest and support!
I once sucked the 141 Kool Aid about how this was a bad ruling (impatient kid). Once I started instructing and getting my time I saw what it was actually doing *for* us. The ATP rule in a minor speed bump for any career pilot. I spent more time working on my IR than I did CFI-ing.
Don't let removal of safety standards subsidize bad business practices.

Just sent this off for my area.

They're in the process of changing it I believe but I don't think it's been implemented yet. Same length of time in training but it's just a company check ride at the end and not a atp and/or type ride.

As of March 1, there are 193 pilots in the pool. 8 of those are CA swimmers. I think they laid out the monthly plan in an FOU or the CP letter recently, but I don't remember what it is. The average is 15 per month.
