Going backwards to forwards, the classes here are near full, so you're not in a good place.
I agree theres no career progression, and that i hope guys leave for American regionals to prove the point. That'll give you leverage.
In my scenario you're paycheck goes up, your retention goes away. If you are on reserve for a whole year and never go above guarantee, for that very small percentage of the pilot population here, they will have a cut of wages. Commuting isnt that bad, but that's a choice to stay in dtw and msp at this point and it has a penalty either way.
You're right, sick time may not get used.
Your retention is not matched on 401k, thats what i said and it's true.

Either way, our contract, pay, 401k, and working conditions suck in comparison to mainline. The most important thing for all "regional" pilots to remember is to not get divided and bicker. We're all in this fight to get to mainline together.

In your scenario, my year end W-2 earnings (paycheck) goes down. Thanks for clarifying what you said about the 401k match, the way I read it, you were saying there is no match at all.

I have no idea if you're new to this or not but you're not going to be able to negotiate with mainline payrates in mind. The mainline RJ payrates are there to protect against future scope breaking purchases by mainline. Mainline pilots and management didn't put those rates in there to get the aircraft on property, it was to punish Delta (for example) if they bought any more RJs outside of scope, or as an ancillary purchase when buying another company (the northwest airlines purchase tore through delta pilots scope on large rjs and the pilots couldnt punish delta for it because they didn't have the rates to fly them. Theyd have had to take our rates and our industry standard total compensation).
I know the DTW reps have a big hardon for mainline rates for a while now, but it's a non starter.

I suppose the company could have trouble filling classes mid 2018 and get you something better than they're offering now. However, Delta always wants to take it about 2 months longer than they should, and I don't know if you can survive another hit like the end of 2014. We about shut the doors from attrition.

Hopefully no one shows up for a few months and you'll get everything on your wishlist.
