1. Luck of the draw. I got it off my first year.

2. You bid for a period of days off. Let's say you earn 5 days your first year. Next year, you bid for several 5-day periods off, in order of preference. You are awarded the one you can hold, based on seniority. Worst case, you choose (3) 5-day periods, and can't hold any of them. You will still have your 5 days off, but the company will assign them for you, unless you bid again on an early bid and get the award. (Or if you are awarded a period, but change bases before it happens, you will have to bid again).

3. Headset doesn't matter, as long as it works and no one is complaining about it. I will say the Bose 15/UFM combo has a VERY sensitive mic which constantly breaks VOX squelch. A little annoying, but livable. My headset is not TSO, and no on has said a word about it.

4. Not sure, never flew on RSV. I'm sure someone else can pipe in for ya.

3. How many are you are flying with the QC20 headset uflymike combo (tso)? Anyone give people wearing these a hard time about it?

4. If I wanted to get the maximum amount of flying on reserve, are there any tricks? Do you get more flying on CNO lines?

1. I had it off on my first year, with around a year seniority. Depends on where you sit in base.

2. As HighFlight said

3. Haven't seen the QC20 yet. Doubt anybody would give you a hard time. While some might get away with no TSO, it's not worth chancing in my opinion, better safe than sorry, and it's a stupid thing to risk something over.

4. You can select the option to be "first out" when calls for reserves go out. CNO probably not, same with CDO. Anecdotally it sounds like reserves in NYC are flying a bit. You shouldn't have any issue getting consolidation. I broke guarantee each month I sat reserve.

So is a bid for vacation higher priority than all normal days off?

Never flew RSW? What what what? How?!

Wouldn't most everyone select first out? Good to hear about reserves flying a bit, if I had to guess I would say with all the hiring they are short staffed = more flying.

Vacation trumps normal days off... Vacation is pre built into the PBS at the beginning of the bid period, so pbs can not touch your vacation days.

If you don't want to be on reserve and already have the time you need, you might select last out, especially if you live in base.

Not necessarily short staffed, we are hiring for growth right now. I'll wait for someone in NYC to add in, as I'm not based there. ATL is growing month on month, and I've been flying a fair bit there now.

Why would anyone select first out!! Heck no.
I'm last out and still fly every day! So it doesn't make a diff. When you are short staffed like we are the rsvs fly a ton.

For clarity, you should tell us position (CA/FO) and base. Not every FO on RSV is "flying a ton", and we don't seem to be short staffed on the FO side.

Luck of the draw on timing. Chose the 200 in DTW, and had 9 days of build-up RSV after OE, most of it home RSV. Then had a line. Very lucky, me thinks!

Are any new hires still getting assigned JFK 200 out of training? I can't get the days off I need in June because we are apparently super understaffed. The whole grid is red on flica with no hope of any days going green or even black. The number of names underneath mine on line award list hasn't grown since April...
