I've never even seen a Delta Captain stand up in front of the aircraft and make the announcement. Truthfully, not once. Now granted, I might be on a "Delta" flight once a month if that....

How cool. Then MsP 900 reserve will go up to forty years.

New pilot policy. Until you give us a contract you can $uck it. Why is this coming up? Our pilots need to focus on FLYING THE AIRPLANE. Some the FOQA feedback is disturbing.

Welcome aboard folks... our flight from ATL to LGA will be approximately 2 hours. We might turn the wrong way on a RNAV departure because I'm out here talking to you, when I should be in the cockpit doing PILOT duties.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Especially with all the new FOs. Putting them together with a new, low time CA that's too busy being a CSA to take care of flight deck duties is a recipe for disaster.

What's next, we need to play them a little jazz flute before pushback.

Because a couple passengers were awestruck by a captain talking in the forward galley, doesn't mean they all are. I bet most don't even care. This "feedback" is BS.

That's my take on it.

Maybe we should go down and help load the bags after we make that announcement. Hell, why not have the captain fuel the damn thing up too. And the FO can assist the FAs in serving first class their four different beverages before takeoff.

Every time I've had to be subjected to this on a deadhead, my first thought is "shut up and get this POS moving so I can spend as little time in the back of this RJ as possible." I don't care to hear anything but the expected flight time.... I don't care about the route, the altitude, your breakfast meal, the color of the sky, or anything else that may be rambled about in these pre departure speeches. If there is a delay, just a quick reason why and how long... K.I.S.S. Keep it simple/short stupid.
