If y'all want to have your Tinder dates fly free go to Skywest. Of the stupid things we talk about on here this is near the top. You're a space cadet just like your name suggests

I couldn't care less about better flight benefits for your girlfriend/boyfriend/companion, etc. We have provisions for significant others to be on our pass benefits. Our union priorities need to be career progression, pay, 401k, sick/vac and reserve rules. Getting your girlfriend better pass travel ranks slightly below ensuring every hotel has a bidet.

Thank you. You have to say that you live together and are “financially interdependent” in order to add someone right now. Pretty hard to say unless you are willing to lie about it (I’m not).

As far as “wasting the union’s time”... if SkyWest has it I don’t see how it could possibly be a hard negotiation.

SkyWest probably exchanged that for a pay freeze...

Because its asking for more at a time when we don't need to be asking for useless stuff. It's meant to allow your spouse to travel. So that's why you have to have spouse like things in common, living situation or financial.

A few years ago Delta created the new S3B1 travel priority. They gave it to Endeavor so that we are above all other Delta Connection and still below parents and retirees. SkyWest at the time had active Delta at the same priority as us S3C and the priority was date of hire. Delta wanted better priority on SkyWest, so they negotiated for S3B1 on their flights. Which is still behind active SkyWest and their parents. But it does put them above all other Delta connection carriers. I suspect that's when SkyWest negotiated for registered companion. They got it because Delta wanted something.

It's not at all hard to say. You either show a marriage license, or proof that you have lived together for a while (think it is 6 months?) Just as proving that someone is your child; it's very simple with a birth certificate.

What IS hard is trying to convince the company you are co-domiciled when you are not. I am sure that could trip some folks up. But I applaud you for not being willing to lie to gain a benefit you are not entitled to.

Why are unmarried people not entitled to have someone on their flight benefits? It only seems fair that if someone who is married gets to have their spouse on there, anyone should get to choose one friend/significant other/whatever to have on there. Just the fact that someone is married gets them better benefits than me and the union negotiated for that?

You can, but you have to prove you live together, OR you two are financially interdependent. As in you're in a serious relationship

Might I remind you that the proposals on the table will result in pay cuts for some of our pilots. You guys are seriously concerned about travel companions? You already can have them, you just have to go through a little more paperwork than SkyWest. I'd also like to remind you we have no career progression. Check your priorities.
