With the new in-class bidding structure of going off the last 4 of your ssn, what is the likelihood of someone with a relatively high ssn getting NYC 900? Seems foolish to ask, as most people don't want NYC, but as someone who does, it would suck to have to commute.

I had thought the lower numbers chose first, i.e. 0001 would be first and 9999 would be last. So, someone with a 7XXX would be at the bottom. Am I incorrect?

Should be fine to get 900 NYC. All new hires on the 900 go to NYC and in classes where they have both the 900 and 200 awards it's about a 50/50 split. Fleet wide, only about 1/3 of new hire spots are available outside NYC

Wish there was some sort of code word we could use when you first meet the other pilot to indicate that you don’t want to talk about boring aviation related topics and get to more pressing matters, like strip club stories and beef jerkey flavor preferences. Oh well, I guess I can dream.....

You called it voluntary leave, he called it leave of absence. Good grief, you’re arguing for the sake of arguing and the winner gets nothing. If you want the correct title it was Long Term Leave of Absence for FOs and Enhanced Long Term Leave of Absence for captains. Happy? You’re both wrong by semantics.
