I sense a thrilling game of pin the tail on the CA donkey coming soon. Just hope you don't end up being the donkey in the meantime.

Their cost neutral remedy was to offer voluntary TOWOP, but with no takers on that they probably decided to restrict drops. Anything dropped by a line holder becomes open time at 150% pay. How would that save them money?

They could still allow reserve swaps at least. With an entirely red grid with almost all near identical coverage you can’t even swap reserve days to pick up available open time.

Have you tried bidding for a 6 on 1 off reserve schedule? You’d get 9 or 10 consecutive days off to do whatever you want.

I think that's asking for too much. You can still swap days, maybe just not the days you personally want. And with the current setup, what you're asking would require a new LOA.

We got what we bargained for.

Open time is impossible to get anyways so you're not missing out. The last few months I've had requests in within minutes of the trips hitting OT, today had a request in within 30 sec. I didn't get a single one of these trips. For trips to be gone that fast I'm thinking there's some kind of OT insider trading going on or something. I've lost my motivation at this point.

Some of our pilots need to understand it’s not always going to be possible to get every single day they want off, off. That’s how the career is. The reserve grid is so high because at least on the 900, every single pilot gets used for the really nasty IROPs. We’re lucky enough 3/5ths of our pilots get 15-19 days off a month versus the 11 days off 4/5ths of pilots at other carriers such as Piedmont are getting. Bid for what you want in pbs, rank it high priority, trade with other pilots, trade with open time when able...

I stopped bidding. I don’t get what I want anyways. And that’s fine, I know where I’m at seniority-wise. I’ve been doing this 15 years. I understand how it works. I’m not looking for “every day I want off.” I literally didn’t bid for any day off because I don’t care.
All I want is the ability to swap a couple single days around so I can pick up an open time now and then.
I know, asking way too much...

so let me get this straight, you don't bid for stuff because you don't care, and then come here to complain because you can't get the days off you want?

If you want to pick up trips, bid to put all your days in a specific part of the month. If you want days of- bid for them. if you don't care enough to take the 5 minutes out of your month to bid, you can't complain about what you get.
