I just wish they would actually use reserves to cover trips, not piecemeal legs here and there. Would also be nice if they didn’t treat lineholders as reserves. My last five day trip had only two of the scheduled overnights, and less than fifty percent of the originally scheduled legs. Every day was a longer duty day and shorter overnight. Why even have lineholders? Just have an airline of reserve pilots!
Seriously, the union needs to deal with this. It’s a violation of seniority. It’s no longer the trip that I bid for and was awarded. I planned to see friends on overnights, etc. I don’t have much in the way of seniority, but it should count for something.

Violation of seniority, please... All you are bidding for is what time your trip starts and ends. Don't plan anything in between, and you won't be disappointed. Talk to some Delta guys, they have the same things going on over there.

What KS said. Unfortunately this is how it is. What do you want to give up from our contract to get language that prevents this? The Delta pilots are getting the same treatment, they get "deviated" from their schedules non-stop. It's highly unlikely we will get better protections against this than them. The truth is, once the trip starts, you're just at work. And they put you to work in the best way they see fit. You're right though, it sucks when you had plans on an overnight and it gets destroyed.
What if I wear my hat? Will they keep me on my trip then?
I know they can do whatever they want after I show up to work, but it is just so aggravating to have been awarded an awesome trip with overnights in places that I’m excited about, and they doing turns out of LGA when I’m MSP based...
