I am also concerned that the lines out of LGA may be more base overnights (which would not be good as a commuter). Any input would be much appreciated, particularly on the latter concern.

That part about lines in LGA having in base overnights is not an issue. 9E does not have lines with in base overnights. You start and finish in your base. Every other overnight is elsewhere and a room is provided for you. Even if rescheduled to overnight in base a hotel will be provided for you if you want it. It's contractual.

On reserve, get a nice crash pad.

Interesting. I was told differently. Bummer for you guys!

I was told it's not labeled as a bonus, and that's how they got around the 25% thing.

This is the same at Endeavor as it is at Goldman Sachs, or any other place bonuses are payed out.

It works out that about 35% of it is taxed for federal, state, etc. I did my taxes last night and got a good chunk of it back from both the state and federal returns.

Doesn't really matter. It's the same money either way, it just makes for a bigger refund check

That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm guessing the lines out of DTW or MSP would be the same then? So it comes back to best commuting options and anticipated length of reserve months. Thank you!

Yup. But I prefer to use my money, not give Uncle Sam an interest-free loan for a year. They NEVER do that for me!

The way to minimize that is do less withholding in your regular paychecks. Claim extra dependents to balance things out at the end of the year. A good accountant should be able to calculate things for you to come out close to even for the year.

Exactly, I don't understand why this is such a hard concept to understand (this same topic keeps coming up over and over). And it is easy to do yourself.

It becomes less simple with more complicated tax situations. And I prefer not to pay an accountant to do for me what I can do for myself. Again, I prefer to keep my money in my wallet.
