It's not that many bypassing anyway.

Depends how you define 'not that many'. I know of quite a few who have chosen to not pursue upgrade. Even if it were 50 to 100 pilots bypassing...that would mean the difference between our under 2 year upgrade now verses still having a most junior captain being at least a 5 year guy.

Your credibility would increase if you get better data to refute statements.

Endeavor is a good place to be, and I just recommended a guy to be hired who was recently hired.

The sales thing Farmlover and others pulled was eye rolling before, and now just as bad. Let the progression and bonuses stand for themselves.

DL mgmt is recognizing that they need to do something going forward for pilot staffing (you should see the daily scramble to cover 717 flying- the regionals cant fly it, the 717 cant fly it, the 737 cant fly it, the bus cant fly it......... so send a 757 there), and you guys are a part of an experiment on figuring out how to staff this thing.

As a side note, all ASA/Expressjet guys hired via the same DL testing that DL guys go through have been given guaranteed interviews as well.

How this plays out with the USAF running into short staffing will be quite interesting.

It's truly a total wild card going forward.

Anybody have good intel on a current Endeavor Gouge for FO position? I have an interview coming up soon.
I did an interview a while back with another Regional and it was as unprofessional as I could have imagined. So, I dont want to use that as a gauge because what I have seen so far is that Endeavor is much more professional.

I just threw 50-100 out there to illustrate a potential point. Farmlover as 80kts said ya want to refute my statement how bout going through the seniority list comparing the most junior captain and the most senior FO then count the FOs in between...cross reference with 16-02 to see who is upgrading, then factor in a small reasonable number of those who the company will never allow to upgrade and you can infer how many are bypassing upgrade. I think it's more than just a handful. I know a handful myself ONLY in the JFK base alone.

80kts I have had a few mainline guys in the jumpseat recently including one who used to help with recruiting and they said the same thing about staffing. It's getting crazy out there. The ASA/XJT interview gives a few guys a shot, but I talked to an ASA Captain and was told that those that qualify for the interview amount to only a small portion of the pilot group there. At 9E I am starting to hear the words flow and/or staple being thrown around for the post SSP era, but I know how much to believe that. Supposedly from the mainline JSers I've had those terms are also being heard as being thrown around the mainline ranks. Personally, I'll only believe those things will happen if and when it actually happens.

Staffing is going to get really bad. About 1/3 of the pilots we hire now at 9E are military retirees getting currency, or their pension is good enough they want to stay here for the schedule.

I just don't see many of today's young people, who need instant gratification, going through the pilot process; Most certainly not to the standard any mainline wants especially Delta.

Wouldn't that be good for staffing at 9E if military folks stayed? Also, do you mean the newer generation(s) will not become pilots, or they just won't stay at 9E long enough to build experience for mainline?
