Would you like me to use smaller words for the St. Cloud Community College graduates among us?

It's called St. Cloud Technical College and it's your best choice close to home.

Firebreaks are now called buffers, and are being increased to 90 minutes...

We're probably not talking firebreaks, because the FDP clock is already running. I think we're talking even less efficient days... like flying a 13-hour two leg day instead of a 12-hour three leg day, or reports starting later with less opportunity to see a lot of credit on a day.

Meh.

As I understand it, if you've got a departure out of JFK later than 1900, you'll only be scheduled up to your Table B maximum FDP minus 90 minutes. So in that case you'd basically lose 90 minutes of FDP time in which you could be flying in order to protect against you timing out due to delays (although it's really 60 minutes because there's already a general buffer of 30 minutes).

But I could be reading it wrong, because that memo could really have used some clarity editing.

Why does everyone think the DGI rate is so low? Is it due to an entitlement attitude or a lack of preparation? Asking for a friend.

Personally I think it’s mostly due to the lower hiring at DL today compared to how things were during the SSP. 500 a year versus 1000+. While it’s not quite at the point where you need space shuttle time to get an off the street interview, there’s no doubt things are more competitive now than they were in 2014-2017. Our applicants simply cannot compete as well with the higher scoring (eg military with masters) off the street interviewees being called in. I’ve heard that the movement from compass to Delta has all but dried up as well. All but impossible for them to even get an invite. I suspect that the rate will get better once Delta actually gets back to hiring 1000 a year, but this is a huge limitation of the program. you’re compared to the applicants at the time you go for your interview rather than the quality of your work / compared to your peers while already flying delta’s passengers in delta’s planes...

It’s all speculation, nobody knows what Delta’s triggers are for sure. An honest question to ask is: how many of the candidates would be invited to interview outside of DGI?
