Any "Latest & Greatest" about Endeavor?

What's this I have been told that a check airman is saying that they are gearing up to bring back some -200s from the boneyard? Any rumor control on this subject?

Mesabah 05-15-2015 03:47 AM

They start coming back in July. We have 26 now, and will take 24 out of the desert for 50 total.

Sushihead 05-15-2015 06:01 AM

The first retention bonus showed up this morning in my checking account, Cha-Ching!

How many pilots have been hired since the bonus announcement?

Sushihead 05-15-2015 06:08 AM

198 CJO's since January 1st. Not sure how many accepted as of now but think it was 140 something as of two weeks ago.

What's the current upgrade times?

Sushihead 05-15-2015 06:14 AM

We will have a more accurate assessment in the next couple of days when 15-03 comes out. And yes, PSA and Compass are still smoking us.

Bpflyerone 05-15-2015 06:15 AM

Good for you guys. Congrats on your bonuses. It's well deserved. Good luck with hiring and upgrades also

I take it, it's still a 7+ year upgrade?

Call me crazy, but who's going to be at a regional in 7 years?

I thought the same thing in 2000, then again in 2005.... it's 2015 and the answer is way too many.

Farmlover 05-15-2015 06:47 AM

Its only a 7 yr upgrade for a very short time then it drops by at least 4 years. A new guy in the doors today will be a capt in 3 yrs or less.

Showed up early?? If you don't mind me asking, how much after taxes?

Sushihead 05-15-2015 08:59 AM

North of 4.

I heard the Feds took 25% off top, but most guys will get half that back, depending on income tax rate. Another 12-15% for social security, FICA, Medicare, State and ALPA getting their piece ($120ish), most guys made out pretty good. My buddy said he got $3960.

Depending on how these guys set up their taxes, next tax season will be like getting an 12.5% bonus for some of the pilots with the return.

RightSide 05-15-2015 09:27 AM

I haven't seen anything in my account and don't see a paystub online for my bonus. Just my normal check....

Same here. So apparently some got the standard mid month paycheck, as well as the bonus. What paystubs should look like very Friday. Don't spend it all over the weekend 😜

If you are single, it is likely you will be sending money to the IRS as a result of the bonus next tax season.

FlyingLow77 05-15-2015 10:54 AM

Sounds more like a CAs check than the bonus. They were pretty specific about the payment coming on the 18th.

Farmlover 05-15-2015 01:07 PM

Heard a big vacancy coming out today as well. Upgrades!!

I haven't got the deposit yet, but the bonus is in the paystubs.

Wow a whole 45 upgrades! How many downgrades are still left to upgrade before a new captain upgrades? No one hates, but don't be stupid. Truth is a 5 year FO is still reserve in DTW.

That's 80 upgrades total on the last to vacancies. Things are moving. New hires will be off of rsv very quick.

Ray Red 05-15-2015 04:32 PM

So, with two vacancies about 13% of the FO's will upgrade. I would say that is pretty good movement.

More like 3% while about 10% of downgraded captains move back to the left seat, but yes it's far better than it had been going. Considering several of the downgraded FO's were captains that got to do the SSP before downgrade and are sitting on a job offer, they have less incentive to risk another long term training event here and would be wise to pass on reupgrade and focus on that Delta class date.

It will be interesting to see how junior it goes. There is a building list of senior FO's with CJO's. It that were me, I would just hang out for 1.5-2 years with a good schedule and a retention bonus rather than deal with an upgrade and reserve lifestyle.

Farmlover 05-15-2015 05:52 PM

5yr rsv is only due to no hiring for many yrs.
With 100 plus moving to delta this this year and 180 moving next the movement is coming faster soon. This vacancy upgrades most of the downgrade guys. If not all. It's good news here and good news for new guys.

All 200 upgrades go to pre-merger 9E pilots. So you may see first time upgrades as early as the next bid.

Negative.... 5 to 1, Pinnacle to Mesaba on the 200. There will be at least a few Mesaba captain names for the 200. (I see no conceivable way for any Colgan pilots to go back to 200 Captain) As for the 900, only Mesaba is under quota. The question is by how much? I see Mesaba filling the quota then most of the rest going to Colgan, unless those now very senior FO's with pay protection are content to sit FO til their Delta (or wherever ) class date.

Are you sure Mesaba isn't at or over their quota for 200 CA? If they are then all the 209 upgrades should go to Pinnacle guys. Which is exactly the reason no Pinnacle guys have upgraded on the 900 on the last few bids.

seminolepilot 05-15-2015 09:53 PM

It's looking like upgrade time is going to be like at Skywest (meaning it will drop quick) with the hiring and growth. Any idea on how low the upgrade time will go? Also what's reserve time looking like now? Or is it hard to tell with some of the new guys will in trainig.

80ktsClamp 05-16-2015 12:20 AM

Has the pulling of the CRJs out of the desert been officially announced? I haven't seen a peep about it from mama D, and they talk about that stuff way more than 1 month im advance normally.

No, it's not announced, and it probably won't be. There is no official plan for the 200's. Delta is ~20ish 76 seat jets under the limit, which allows DCI to be over the 125 limit.

In that case, all this talk is still just voodoo.

Good on you guys for having some upgrades, though!

As far as the questions on upgrade time, it can be quite misleading after times of little to no hiring. And with the bloch quotas, it's even more unclear. What happens in situations like this is when things start moving, it's just shuffling and nothing happening at first... but if it goes over a certain hump, it's like a light switch being flipped on in regards to progression.

Positive. There are only about 20 Mesaba captains left on the 200, the quota was 100. Mesaba has been below since 2013. Mesaba is just slightly below on the 900. There was at least 1 retirement and some that have moved on since the last award.

I may be wrong but if you are pay protected and can re-upgrade, you have to or you lose the pay protection. Otherwise they'll go to FO pay.

That's true, but with the retention money, FO pay (with proper budgeting) is manageable for a year waiting for a Delta class. Some guys can now afford to sit with a nice schedule and no risk of a pink slip that could cost them a Delta class rather than commute to JFK to sit reserve.

If that is the case, the vacancies would have been posted sooner and there would have been some mention of it from mainline. It's good things are not all negative there, but there is no need to live in a dream world.
