Default Part 121 Interview (aka street captain)

Well, instead of trying to avoid the junior displacement to captain with my previous 121 time, I think I've come to the conclusion that I should embrace it and just go ahead and make the application as part of the "Part 121" program as listed on the website.

That being said, is anyone familiar with the "streamlined" process that takes place during your visit to Dallas?

Show up before 0800, nobody in after that.

sit in a waiting room, they come and get you and lead you to a class room.

Line holder captain was a super nice guy, came in for what i call the "Koolaid hour" tells you about where the company has been, where it is, where they are trying to go. discusses bases, seniority, goes through a whole packet with you page by page describing the flow, pay scales, insurance etc. then you fill out the form saying what you want for lunch.

sit there and BS with the gang for 30 minutes or so. then someone comes in and calls your name for the HR interview. straight forward, no surprises, just getting to know you kinda thing. go back to the class room.

sit and BS with the guys as they each go one by one for their HR interview. takes a while

HR lady comes and notarizes the driver record form and leaves

sit and BS with the guys. then they start calling one at a time for the the tech. I was prior 121 exempt from the tech interview.

hour for lunch, they deliver to the room.

supposedly the sim was a Frasca with Beech Baron Setup with G1000 display. in my experience, Frascas have always flown like a turd so i would imagine theirs is no different. from gouges i have read the sim eval is basically, takeoff, runway heading to an altitude, couple of turns, brief a hold, ILS full stop landing, the end. i think one guy in our group needed one but didnt discuss it and i think he was gone like 10-15 minutes. no biggie

eventually once everyone has done their tech and HR and sim if needed go to a different room for fingerprints, takes about 5 minutes each. then go do the pee test, takes about 10 minutes each and they need two samples so be able to make water.

out of there around 1600-1630

Thanks for the detailed info. Yes, was primarily concerned with the differences for the prior 121 time. So, everything the same except for the tech questions.

Did you have the 950 121 hours for the "street captain" bonus?

Were your hours "fresh"?...recent? Mine are pretty old.

Pretty sure they don’t do sim evals anymore. Did I miss a change?
