Envoy Cadet Program
 
Is there a max hour limit in order to be allowed to enter the Envoy Cadet program? For instance, can somebody with 1200-1300h join the program, assuming they get hired by a flight school, and time build to 1500h?

I think you have to instruct as a cadet for 300 hours, so doing it efficiently you’d need to decide by 1200.

I'm shocked people take the time to ask questions to a forum that should be directed at people that have the solutions. Email the recruiters.

Overall I agree but there’s plenty of guys out there on these forums that are in training, recruiting department, etc that can provide useful info. Not everyone here is some idiot with useless info. Just fyi

The 300 hours instructing with a qualifying school came from the flight school I talked to last year when I was considering whether to enroll in the cadet program as a CFI.

The cadet program represents a complex contractual arrangement with the participating schools so it is unlikely to have changed. It goes without saying that you should confirm with both the school and Envoy recruitment before making a career decision.

Do any current CFI’s have any advice for a brand new CFII looking to flight instruct at a Envoy Cadet Program location where there is a need? I am asking for a student of mine ( who really is no longer my student). I just know he wants to go somewhere warm and fly a lot.

I moved from my comfy big 141 school to DFW and went with US Aviation. They have great management, awesome people to work with, and a lot of air China contract students which means they will NEVER cancel on you, meaning more time and money.

The knock on this school though is the fact they fly old 1975 C172M models. They fly great and are extremely well maintained, but for someone like me who came from a school with G1000/G1000nxi it is something to get used to. Also, the language barrier from the Chinese can get annoying, but some can speak very good English and you can have a great conversation with them.

All in all, it was a great school to work for. My previous school the most hours I got was about 60 hours with weather, my cancellations, student cancellations, etc. I got 115 hours at US Aviation in my best month, some even got 140. Contract students will get you some serious hours.

If I may ask, did you sign up with Envoy Cadet program from the very beginning or did it take you a few months to decide? I presume you are done at US Aviation?
If you are done, did you get the 175? How long has reserved been at DFW?

The 175 is what I’ve read is advertised to cadets out of DFW. The shinny airplane is not a priority. The idea is to fly.

145 is getting lines faster than 175 in ORD. Not sure about DFW.

Dfw is total opposite. Over 10 month difference. ORD reserve will drop dramatically in August for 175.

The divide between long flights and short flights between the 175 and the 145 is a huge QOL issue. Same credit on a two leg 5-hour day on the 175 as you will have on a four leg 10-hour day in the 145.

Reserve times are quickly subject to change among FOs because they are seat locked until upgrade for the most part.
