making the jump?

Is anyone willing to share their experience of going to Envoy from another regional?

Was it worth it? how soon were you able to regain the QOL?

Has anyone completed the Near Entry Captain program? (500hrs + 121 Time)

My wife and I are struggling financially after a year in the regionals transitioning out of the military, and im wondering if giving up the seniority is worth the sign on bonus.

Thank you in advance.

To determine if the jump is “worth” the SOB depends on where you live. Will it be a 1 leg or 2 leg commute, how close are you to 950 hrs CA eligible part 121 time.

If the flow to AA in your back pocket is a goal & if your finances need a little bit of a quick boost Envoy is a good look if you have the CA upgrade time. $113K with SOB sounds very appealing but you will pay for in QOL and being on the bottom of CA seniority for a long time. PSA, and Piedmont may have better QOL if you live closer to their bases, you can earn a lot by flying Premium/OT at Piedmont and PSA.

Good luck to you, I pray the financial situation u mentioned improves. Many are offering large SOB in the industry today make sure that regional aligns with your goals.

Get a paper draw a line down the middle, pros on one side cons on the other side. Select the regional with the most pros that align with your goals.

Would it require a commute?

Keep in mind Piedmont and PSA are both hiring direct entry captains now as well. Same bonus program.

I think if you quit, you can’t get hired by PSA or Piedmont (AAG).

Only if you don’t give 2 weeks notice

Oh really? That’s perfect then. Someone told me that you were done if you quit. That’s not bad then, thanks.

Near entry Captain Bonus Question

I electronically accepted my job offer at Envoy today with a July 30 class date. I’m less than 400 hours from bidding a CA vacancy once through training and thus qualify for the DEC bonus. When should I hear something about this bonus or is it too late since I’ve already accepted the job offer?

You would get the bonus payment on your first day of indoc training.

I am former USAF pilot with 121 heavy and a one year break in flying. Coming in under the Near Entry program and have been told I should get the same bonus as a DEC. Giving up Seniority for a quick upgrade and the bonus is worth it if you’re looking at two to three years before upgrade at another regional. However, prior military aviators with 121 time usually get sucked up pretty quick at bigger companies.

Make sure that you have proved your hours to the hiring department before the first day of class. If all your checks aren’t on the table before class starts don’t think you’ll get anymore later.

I'd make the jump if they actually raised the pay instead of dangling 45k for coming over then paying way less than I'll make as a CA where I currently am. I think most people that would have been elligible also saw that pretty obvious problem so that's why the DEC program hasn't worked as well as they were hoping. Raise the damn pay for everyone!

Who says the DEC program isn’t working?

The DEC program is actually working well enough, fortunately or unfortunately. It is filling a short’ish term void and won’t be needed much longer as 2016 hires (big hiring wave) are already starting to upgrade.

1337pilot 07-08-2018 12:43 PM

I was under the impression is wasn't working that well from other posts on this forum. Unfortunately I guess that means no pay bumps, and I bet what helped it become more successful is the fact that Endeavor stopped hiring for a while and Envoy was probably the next best option for FOs with plenty of time who were looking to get out of dead end airlines.

MD-11Loader 07-08-2018 02:22 PM

I think that the DEC program is about to get a lot more interesting. Someone from the union said that they estimate that roughly 60 f/o’s were eligible for upgrade on this vacancy. If that’s true, then there are roughly 104 captain slots left open for the DEC’s and other aviators who hit 950 hours after the bid closed. In theory, there is ORD 145 and CRJ available, along with LGA 145. That could help lure more DEC’s if they know that other options are available.

Pretty sure that was the intent for the standing bid loa from the company's perspective
