Question Envoy Training Overview

What is the current Envoy training schedule. How many weeks in the classroom, sim etc? Do they cover your hotel during training?

Training footprint depends on several things. With large classes (mine was 65 people) they split us into 3 groups at orientation. First group came back a week later, then we were further split into 2 groups, one stayed through, the other went home for a week after indoc.

The holidays threw more time off into the mix, so our group took a long time. Nov 8 indoc started, I did my LOE Jan 27. I'm half way through IOE.

Yes they pay for your hotel during training, and you are on payroll starting at orientation.

Envoy aims for a 75 day training cycle from day 1 of groundschool/indoc to the end of IOE. That is minimum time off and zero delays. Realistic footprint is closer to 80-90 days, especially DECs that require 50 hours of IOE.

First 5 weeks in the school house- Indoc, emergency procedures, systems review (you complete hours of computer based training, CBT, on your own time), and cockpit procedures trainer (CPT). Monday- Friday, weekends off. Nearly all days 0700-1600.

After CPT, you start sim and you can expect to fly some weekends. 8 sessions (likely scenario is 4 sessions, 2 days off, 4 sessions, 1 day off), then MV and LOE checkrides. Most sim training in DFW now. Some folks have been sent to Charlotte and St. Louis for sims. But the company is aiming to keep all sim training at DFW. You bid on sim training times and location based on your class seniority. After your last sim checkride, expect a few days before starting IOE.

IOE: FOs needs 25 hours, DECs 50 hours.

Hotel is covered by Envoy all through training, even if you're local DFW. You can even "commute" on your days off (if you live outside of DFW) using a low priority positive space reservation.

Any week of 2/13 interview/logbook review folks hear anything, yet? Heard rumblings of a 3/9 orientation, but just curious. Getting close to the mark for two week notices…

Thanks

I signed my CJO on 19 DEC 2022 but had to wait to get my Passport back from lost/renewal status (State Department Bureaucracy they were in no hurry over the holidays, finally showed up), updated airline apps today with new passport and medical. I have to email back the recruiter to see if the offer still stands, (they said it did) and decide if this is really the route to go... (back to 121 ops from 135 FW EMS 5 minutes from my door)

I know it's a 90-ish day training footprint.

For the "Logbook review" is it a one day down to DFW and meet you, actually look at log books type interview ?

Where do they house you guys in DFW ? I just got back from FSI recurrent there and saw a lot of red lanyards at our crew hotel (Hilton Garden South-DFW)

I'm assuming that the training department requires line observation ride on whatever equipment you get bid/Jr'd into, how many legs ? (I've done and always hauled people jumpseating their obs rides to and from home on weekends at my previous 121).

I was offered CJO 19 DEC 22, have been waiting for State Department to get renewed/lost passport replacement to me and it finally came in today, email sent and app updated to reflect new passport and medical, waiting to hear back from them.

Couple quick questions:

I understand the footprint for training varies, etc.... (I was 121 ops for a about 5 years before moving over to 135 FW EMS....)

How many Observation rides/jumpseat rides required by company in your bidded/assigned aircraft before IOE, and any problem if you're using the J/S observation rides to go home on the weekend.....respecting real commuters and not bumping anyone off the seat if needed.

What hotel in Dallas is the indoc hotel now ? I just had latest recurrent at FSI DFW and saw a lot of red lanyards hanging around our current crew hotel (Hilton Garden DFW South.....ugh)

There is one jumpseat observation round trip (2 flights) that must be accomplished before you start sims. This is usually accomplished the day after you are done with CPT (cockpit procedures training). CPT is usually done on a Friday so the jumpseat is on a Saturday. It needs to be 2 flights so "commuting" home on a 1 way won't work. This jumpseat observation roundtrip is scheduled out of DFW.

I won't give away hotel details due to security concerns. But the hotel that is generally used is close to Envoy HQ and provides shuttle service to/from.

The logbook review takes about 4-5 hours. Lots of paperwork to review (which should be completed before you arrive). You also submit a pre-employment drug test. Brunch/lunch is provided. Your day starts around 0700 and you'll be outta there by 1200-1300 barring no paperwork issues.

I interviewed 2/7 and received communication on 2/16 that I had passed everything. Was told to expect New Hire orientation on 3/9 (half day in DFW) with training class date options yet to come. Still waiting on travel confirmation and training class dates.
