If you observe a flight as a LOSA, do you get paid for that time or is it volunteer?

Yea it is. Only open apps twice a year though. At least on the super.

What do mean by open apps. I'm still pretty new and learning how things work.

You have to apply to the position and try usually only open it up twice a year or as necessary.
