Default ZW

Nothing but good things to say about the ZW program. Couple CBTs a month and a phone call with a recruiter. Also have to update your hours. They also have conference calls each month with chief pilots to discuss a question or topic posted on the Airman Trainee portal. The flight benefits are definitely not useless if you know how to use them. I made it to Australia and back on them as well as several shorter trips as well. I know people in the program who really get their moneys worth out of them going all over the place so they are usable if you're flexible and creative with itineraries. If you decide, as I did, to chose a different regional there isn't a fee to pay back. At least I never paid one. And they were very understanding when I chose a different regional instead of ZW. I enjoyed the program and hope this clears up some info about it.

I was in the program and went all the way through!

Basically you get full blown benefits (including ZED) which is nice but shouldn’t be the only factor.

I did it for better equipment choice, right now equipment can matter for QOL of schedules and what not so it’s good to have that advantage at the cost of basically selling out to get it, but who wouldn’t when you’re making a big career move.

If you decide to do it, great! But be absolutely certain for reasons already mentioned above. Also keep in mind we are at a stage with the company that the less people that come here, the more likely we will get our higher pay package.

Cadets are getting the 145 recently in the all-145 classes. Being a cadet doesn't guarantee the 175 at all.

Yeah about one class per month give or take. It’s a gamble, but from what I’ve heard the 145 in ORD isn’t as bad as it had to be but I don’t know that for sure

Jesus.

Don’t sell yourself out to a company. That’s the issue with the regionals right now. If you have to sell yourself out in order to have a decent time somewhere, what does that say about the company?

Looks like reserve time is dropping pretty dramatically for OFE's.

Benefits of the cadet program:

1) 401k, vacation, and sick time—- Since you are considered an Envoy employee you will start to accumulate vacation and sick time. Your 401(k) is based on time in the company and that starts from the day you sign your cadet agreement.

2) Equipment and Bases —- Cadets will choose equipment first based on how long they have been Envoy employees. 121 pilots will choose next based on experience. All others, meaning 135 pilots and also pilots with 1500, will choose next based on birthdate; people born first will choose first.

3) Bonus — You can opt to take your bonus now. Up to $5000. But you do not have to. You can do this to lower your tax bracket. You do not have to take the full $5000, which can be requested all at once if needed. Or you can request anything lower i.e. $2,500 or $3000. Or even five dollars every flight hour like some partner schools advertise.

4) Other Benefits— All those listed on the website



Rumors addressed

If you do not take the $5000 bonus you do Not have to pay 5K if you decide to leave somewhere else. Meaning if they do not give you money you do not have to give them money


Becoming a cadet does not place you into Pilot seniority.
Only company seniority to accrue vacation and sick time.


Process.

You will interview like everybody else. If you were offered a Position as a cadet you will then do your fingerprinting and drug test. Then you’ll be told that somebody will contact you shortly. After about 2 to 3 weeks an individual from Envoy will email you with your paperwork saying you pass the background check and then you sign your letter of employment. Upon signing that letter Is when your date of hire is begun.

They’ll stay in touch with you throughout your time building. Upon getting close to the time mark it is upon you to contact Envoy and let them know you are approaching 1500/1250/1000 hrs. They will notify you in class dates which you may choose from.

This made it sound like you don’t need to be affiliated with a partner school to be a cadet. Would that be accurate?

Partner schools just get mentorship only.

Pipeline schools get the full benefits (401k, health, travel, etc.)

Yes, and I’m happy for them too! Hopefully at this rate there won’t be a huge imbalance of reserve time between the 2-3 fleets
