Miami base
How hard is it to get Miami base ? How far out are class dates?
|
It is only a 145 base, and a small one. If you get the 145 in class its going to be a while to hold mia. If you get the 175 it will be a while even after you upgrade, before you hold mia.
Class dates... a few weeks id guess. We usually don't have a long backlog. |

Once you finally get there, prepare to get forced to upgrade into LGA/JFK and take another couple years to get back to MIA. Nobody should come to Envoy for MIA. It's only open for recruiting purposes. |

Out of 2400+ pilots on property, around 160 of them are based in Miami (CAs and FOs). You might get lucky and get there in 3 months... you might take years.

Last union seniority list had closer to 140. 67 Captains and 76 FOs. |

I fully expect MIA to grow in the near future. Think 175s.

It sounds like even if I live in south Florida the chance of commuting for a long time to LGA or ORD will be very high. Should I consider PSA as an option because of the LCR? I’m trying to choose a regional with rotor transition that won’t make my life too complicated and I know very little about airline pilot life. Envoy vs PSA any advice please? Thank you for the info!
Look at https://rotarytoairlinegroup.org/forum/ |
Miami is the hardest base to hold at this company. We have guys commuting out of south Florida because they couldn’t get the 145 for one reason or another. Miami has a good number of lifers as well with very little movement.
Maybe some day the Miami base gets 175s, as of now the only person saying that is a poster that frequents the Envoy forum and repeatedly spreads rumors in a borderline malicious way. |

Are you stuck in Chicago because you got the 175? Or you got the 145 and you still can’t hold Miami after 2 years?

This just simply isn't true, if you've been here for 2 years you most definitely without any doubt can hold MIA both as an FO or CA. You're clearly doing something wrong on your end if you're still stuck in Chicago. 175's going to MIA, that imo is a stretch and don't see that happening. YX has that locked down pretty good. They're cheap and they have the over water certifications on their planes. As for PHL, I've never heard of any base talk but I do factually know that we are now doing PHL turns out of GSO.

You'll get it in April. You didn't miss it by much this time. |

Seriously, don't give these guys that have nothing to contribute but negativity the time of day. Do your own research. You'll find that 99% of the stuff the guys here are spewing is false info.

As an FO you should be able to hold mia fairly quickly. Next week I fly with a low 2000 number FO who is a line holder. As a captain you might have to wait a little over 2 years but with that BOL airline talk I think there will be more feed to mia so I’m sure we will have more flying down here.
